  1. just interested to see how many member's are planning on going tomorrow? whats the best time to line up, im thinking about 8am. quiet the busy place from what i hear!
  2. i love having a lake specific tank. finding tang. cichlids is fun and interesting, there is enough variety that i can resist the urge to mix. on the other hand, i can see the appeal to having a mixed tank. researching and matching fish from different areas can be very rewarding!!
  3. acclimatized properly tropheus species of some sort. cant remember specific name petrochromis ( zaire texas) i think neolamprologus sexfasciatus cant find the name of the other. only 4 added, bought from golds, dont see any sign of sickness never add the water from the bag if that enough to help?
  4. so after aquiring some new fish i noticed that some of my fish, new and old are acting weird, all the new ones were staying close to the surface, and staying pointed towards the bottom. one of the new ones died and one that i had for about 2 month's. today there is one new one staying behind the spray bar form my filter output. any ideas to what may be going on? i have tested my water and completed a water change. everything checks out, nothing changed really. im new to chiclids so please help. i bought 4 new fish, 1 is dead, 2 doing great now and 1 is hiding behind the spray bar like i mentioned.
  5. thanks everyone. i have some ideas, cant wait to get started.
  6. thinking about making a sump. looking for some good sites to help with this. or any ideas tips anybody may have would help so much. pics would also be great. thinking about a 33-55 gallon.
  7. ha ha, i hear you. i was so temped, but seeing as how i have to furnish an apartment, i will have to wait -01-
  8. seems like a good deal to me, i saw a 230 gallon tank with glass top for $599 at pisces today. had the patching stand for another $299. if i only had the room.
  9. have you considered using a couple of goldfish??? its what i have always used and just gave them back to the store once my tank is cycled. they produce the ammonia in good amounts and they are cheap too
  10. thanks, we travel alot around the west coast and its awesome!! such a difference coming from newfoundland!
  11. why dont you just make them. if you go to some glass companies they should have some scrap that they could sell for cheap. ask for the edges to be sanded and look around at some of the local fish stores for the plastic pieces to connect the glass top. i think you can buy the piece in 4' length.
  12. here are some pics that we took while driving from calgary to cranbrook. not much wildlife but lots of beautiful mountain pics. enjoy i love this one, the mining truck was flippin huge!!
