  1. I just bought a bunch of bags of sand\gravel at the gas station. Was a pain to clean, but very natural!
  2. No, male and female longfin bettas can kill each other. Plakat(shortfin) can be kept together if they're raised together but I feel they're like cichlids. They are better in a group so they forget who they're fighting with. I keep some of mine as individuals in community tanks and they don't bother any other fish. They're more at risk for having their fins nipped than anything. Females can be kept together but they will nip fins. Hope this helps you out!! Sure does thanks! Can you recommend a breeder or a LFS that has Plakats? (I prefer the shorter finned to the longfinned) I mostly see longfin ones here in Calgary, and I have doubts about the health of the Bettas at the LFS. Please PM me if it's against board rules to ask this in public. Thanks again
  3. I just picked up a 10 gallon tank and I was think of putting a male and female Betta in it. Can you keep the two together permanently? And would they let a small cory and\or an Otto live? I'm not interesting in breeding them, they'd be just for show. Thanks!

    Hiya

Not 100% sure yet, but most likely some mixed Africans. My previous tank, which my in-laws now have, was a community tank of mostly tetras... Mind you the last time I had Cichlids I would get stressed out watching them beat each other up. By the way, can anyone recommend me a good yet inexpensive light for my tank? (90g) And where to get it? Thanks!

    Hiya

I'm just starting to get back into the hobby again, and I will be picking up a 90g soon. Located in Cowtown. I'm liking what I see here. Lots of good info!
  6. Any good places in Calgary?
  7. I ordered a stand for my future 90g tank, but sadly I have to wait a couple weeks for it to show up. I must say this was my first trip to the new NE Calgary location, and it's quite a lot nicer than the old South one. (I've been out of the hobby for a bit)
