  1. By the sounds of things, there will likely be a decent amount of plants, and it'll probably hurt you less in the pocket book at the auction than at the LFS...of course I could be wrong. I guess because it is an auction I am afraid I will pay more then I should for the plant. you know what I mean
  2. I am thinking about going. I am just not sure what kind of plants I want, all I know is I need plants. If all I need are plants would it be worth it for me to go, how hard is it going to be to buy the plants I like?
  3. Ya, I got some 13w daylights as well, so we will see how it all turns out.
  4. Ya Home depot has the 6500k bulbs as well, I just got some for my house the other day. That's when I figured they would be good for my 10g. If I get 2 23w bulbs do you think that would be a bit extream for the tank, I will also be supplying CO2 with a DIY.
  5. I am looking for light sources for a 10g tank, I want 2 - 3 w per gallon. I was just thinking of picking up 1 or 2 clamp desk lamps and throwing some Philips Daylight twister bulbs in. Will this be a sufficient light source ?
  6. well drilling a 10g wouldn't be fun no, but I am will to do what it takes. on a different note, what would make the best substrate, and were should I get it from in Calgary?
  7. wow that is great to know, I just assumed that when a person could use a sump they should. I assume that an elite mini would be sufficient because of the filtration from all the plants?
  8. Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and haven't introduced myself. so here is the intro as well as some questions for a new project. My name is Adam, and I live in Calgary. I have a 90g Community tank and a 20g empty at the moment tank (it will become a community tank as well). The 20g is empty at the moment because the fish got big, so in the 90 the went. So I have a 10g and a 5 galling just sitting around, I had the idea to drill the 10g for overflow and use the 5g for the wet/dry filter/sump. What size overflow should I drill? would 3/4 be enough I guess I am just looking for ideas. Is this a good idea or would the 5 gallon be a bit small. also I want to use a DIY co2 system, that should be enough for a heavily planted 10g shouldn't it? if so could I put the bubble counter in the sump, or does that need to be placed in the tank with the plants for best results.
