Welcome!
Nice size tank to jump in with!
One tip...I noticed you planted the Anubias... you shouldn't bury the rhizome or it'll die. Tie it to driftwood and it'll thrive!

Absolutely Gorgeous!!!
I wish I could do some of those more amazing (in both looks and price!) shrimp!

Welcome to the forum! I'm sure in no time your tank will spontaneously "multiply". It's a syndrome commonly referred to as MTS (multiple tank syndrome). Don't feel bad...everyone gets it at some point. lol
This forum is a great place to buy/sell/trade. if you don't find what you want here, there are several Local Fish Stores that commonly sell decent plants. Riverfront, Piscces, Big Al's, Petland, Tanks-A-Lot...Ohh...and the Calgary Aquarium Society monthly meetings is a good place too. You're welcome to attend a meeting and find out what it's all about!

Ooo...cool. Lookin' forward to the pics!

Fish will obviously breed when they are ready and when conditions are ideal. Feed them well, keep the water clean and in time they will create the fishy family you long for. ;-)
-
Fred is breeding them! Or at least attempting...i'm pretty sure they spawned...now to wait for fry?
-
Brichardi are not sexually dimorphic...so you're not going to be able to sex them by simply looking...maybe someone out their in their infinate wisdom can tell by looking, but in the years i've been keeping these beauties (of which I don't currently have anymore) it was simply luck O'the draw. Buy several and they'll pair off on their own...and then when the breeding starts...all other tankmates are fair game and likely dead in time. Very nice fish though.

at the CAS monthly meeting you can often find Orange, Cherries, Greens, sometimes Rili, CRS.
Another member on here has several types of wicked shrimp...but I haven't seen him post any yet...but when he does...i'm sure they'll sell out uber fast! -
Looks like a Gardneri to me!

That's pretty cool! Gotta love spring time spawns!
-
Stunning! Really awesome!

Just 2 Giant Auctions...one in Spring and one in Fall...plus there are always 9 more mini auctions during the year (at each meeting)
-
I like it! Thanks for Sharing!
-
Actually the Aquarium Club of Edmonton does not have mini auctions at their meetings.
  :eh: :eh:
Hmmm...yet another reason to come to Calgary then. muhahahahahaha
-
grows super fast...blocks out the light though so if you have other light demanding plants you won't like this one. It's a pleasant plant though.

hahaha...Whaaaat? It's nice and warm here...plus you can't beat the view from above! LOL

Galaxy Rasboras, Ember Tetras, there were a bunch of really cool micro fish at Pisces a while back...but I haven't really check for them lately. I think I saw some galaxy's at Riverfront last week. They're everywhere...just gotta really look hard...cause they're so small! LOL
Oooh.. Scarlet Badis Badis are really small too...and they have some over at Franco's! $4.99 each I think.
-
You could always do a really awesome mini scape with different levels and plants...and then enter it into a competition to keep your motivation up! Plus, there are lots of micro fish around...just gotta know where to look.

April Meeting Info
in Calgary Aquarium Society (CAS)
Posted
Just to let you...we have a one time venue change as our normal meeting place is undergoing renovations for the next few weeks. The meeting for Tuesday, April 9th, 2013 is going to be held at the Thorncliffe/Greenview Community Hall located at 5600 Center Street North.
Our meeting will be on "Scientific Names - Nothing to be Scared of: Understanding & Pronouncing Scientific Names."
Our Jar show will be on Cichlids! Our knowledgable Speaker and Jar Show Judge will be making an appearance from Saskatchewan!
We have a new librarian who will be on hand with lots of awesome books for us to take out as well! Raffle, door prizes and mini auctions, as always, will be part of the evening!
