  1. you can try to syphon what you can, or use a jar put in the water and sway the water near the wigglers with ur hand to make them float into the jar then transfer them that way. You will almost definetly lose some fry, but they will breed again shortly anyways so i wouldnt worry about it too much.

  2. haha i dont know about fry, This summer I will either scale up for breeding room or be scaling down to basically just the thai silk in a show type set up and pumping him up...but ull know of course anyways, his head is already bigger , he jumps right out of the water to take the food from my hand its crazy hes a weirdo and i love it

  3. My parents have a small backyard pond ...maybe 500 gallons-ish? And I am curious about what the easiest and inexpensive options are to filter it, keep it clean. Its a simple design with a small waterfall , just a pump funning a hose to some rocks and trickling down, but of course it gets green and gross in a short period, and im really not looking to get into this as for one its not my home, but secondly my parents arent going to drop a tonne of cash and are older themselves so maintenance would have to be simple and easy. If there are any options for filtration please let me know your ideas.

  4. Well they are here, in quarantine and being dewormed. They came out of the bag full of personality, the big one especially immediatly wasnt afraid of anything and very interavtive its crazy considering he was just in a box and moved etc....heres a couple pics one with and one without flash, looking pretty good especially after shipping stress which also is supposed to reduce the head size!

  5. Hey guys, I was just looking for info or ideas for having some type of safety device in aquariums should you lose power and of course the filtration and air with it. I work 12 hour shifts and now that im getting into some more expensive fish I just want to know if there are any options? I know some of you have these aro's and ray's and such that range in the several thousands so I would imagine there is some type of safety device or system put in place if at all possible?

  6. This order wasnt My order, i was joining in on someone else who has no interest in disclosing his info here, and there was no more room for anything/anyone else, hence why I didnt contact anyone or ask anyone to join as there was nothing to potentially join.

If i do make an order again someday on my own I will definetly mention to others who may be interested to make it helpful for everyone involved, however it can be a bit challenging and cause a loss of interest when you deal with people who back out of deals, which has happend to me quite a few times, as well as other friends whove been burnt on here, or simply stop replying to you mid deal making without saying anything at all.

I like the colored and pearly flowerhorns too, especially the super red ones...however what you see on pictures on the net etc are often a far cry from what you take home , their colors can vary so much, only come out in certain situations, or never color up at all, also most of the sellers have colored lights on their tanks , so its not accurate and can be very disapointing , but not always of course. If I do decide to part with one of these males I will certainly advertise on here to fellow AA members first.

  7. I have been lucky enough to make some great contacts that were able to help me out in this area, I was not the only one in canada who went in on shipping, though I am the only one who took the Thai silk route. You are right about the crazy huge costs though, often times more than the fish itself. Thanks for the compliment, ive waited a long time to find myself the perfect fish, especially with 'kok' potential, and again have been fortunate to have some good fellow hobbiest in thailand keeping an eye out for me. Its still up in the air how this fish will develop, but time will tell.

  8. Here is the only pic right now of one of my two male thai silk from thailand. Not sure if the pic is big enough, and i cant copy the other pics from the breeders online photo album so this will have to do for now, this is of the larger male, who has a decent sized head (harder to find amongst thai silk strain) also the more recent pics his head is bigger...i know its hard to see in this pic, but it shows in the others and his videos! He wont have a HUGE head, but it should be in proportion to his body which i like more than those insanly big heads a lot of ppl go for. He should arrive late this week or next week, I also have a smaller male who also has a head hump growing on him already as well....Finaly able to get my QUALITY flowerhorn!! And cant wait to grow them both out...

Will post more pics as they come..

  9. thanks for the help and info, i still have well over 100 doing well as of now, i agree about mother nature , the fact is that i likely would have had to start culling fry soon anyways. AS for the type, their parents are both short body texas', some of the babies are SB as well and some are not....so a more general explanation would be 'texas (carpintis) cichlids'
