  1. Ya it is no change.... She look fine and normal just breathing heavy at the top of the tank... I was think maybe i should clean out the filter? maybe?? I will move her into a tank if she is not better by sat... and the rest of the fish seem to be leaving her alone.
  2. So: I have a breeding group of Rubys that are in amazing shape, look great breed all the time, now the last couple of days, one of the females is at the top of the tank, and looks like gasping for air. So i checked the levels everything seemed fine, but I did a 40% water change anyway ( cuz it was about that time anyways) I did use Prime dont worry. Today again she is doing the same I did another 30 % today, and Im not sure why she doing this. All have done lately is this.... About 2 or 3 weeks ago I moved the group into a 90 gallon from a 60. They have 5 multis ( shellies, which keep to them self), 5 multi cats, and 8 small dragon blood peacock fry about 1 .5 inch long each. In the whole tank. there is a Rena XP3 and and 12 inch long air rock in there. I'm sure they are getting enough air, and there also live plants swords I think they are called. She is the only one doing this everyone else seems fine and swims along and doesn't seem the least bit bothered. What can this be? Should I put her in a separate tank??? is it something im missing??? errr. Fish lately make me mad!!! lol, but seriously,
  3. So I was rushed outta the city last week, because of a ill family member. Well unfortunately the family member didn't make it, so I had to deal with a very big and hard funeral. I just got back to Calgary last night, where one of my roommates was watching my fish, and dog. And found out, one of the heaters broke in my tank, cooking all (9) Xystichromis Sp Flamebacks. 3 males (theres pics on here) 6 females (2 holding). The heater in question was a Cascade 150watt. Only a couple months old (if that). i should have just bought the better one, but trying to save a buck.... The tank was a beautiful 29 gallon bowfront, with a 3D background. And will be for sale now. i think I should maybe rethink, fish right now.
  4. So whats the deal with these VOH lights. I have been told that the lights are crazy. Are they good? What are they good for? I breed African Cichlids.... Over Kill?
  5. So these guys are in a tank all to them self... 30 Gallon Bow front ( I was sold it as a 33 Gallon, but later told there is no such tank, so it must be a 28 gallon, so Im spliting the difference) I have river rock for the bottom, 3d DIY background, Amazon Swords and Java Moss with a Stone Cave.... 3 Males and 5 females... and it looks like today 1 female is chewing bubble gum, so Im hoping she is holding not eating a snail she found off the plant. Ill try post more pics
  6. Hey Gang: So I just got this Breeding Group of Haplochromis sp. "Ruby Greens", and Wow nice fish. I have them in a 60 gallon, 1 Male and 5 females, with German Red breeding group and Some Buffalo Heads. I have already about 50 or so fry from this beatiful, and Am thinking about making a Species only tank, with a really nice 3d background and heavly planted. Im going to do my homework, and see if I can Lake Victorian plants in there too. Anyways tell me what you think and what you think of my Fish.....
  7. Hey Guys; So this is like the post states, this is my new Victorian, a Flame back from Patrick. I haven't had it more then a couple of days... And he is coloring up nicely already.
  8. Thats a really really nice tank... Looks amazing... The only thing im my opinion that would make it nice is....#1 in my house (lol), and maybe a 3d rock background. Super nice fish... i do wish it was mine
  9. Is this spray liner you put it A long term liner or will it crack in the future?
  10. What i do, is boil it. I have a turkey deepfryer, and I put the wood in there and boil it for a like a whole day, I call it making log and stone soup. lol. But in fact I have the say kinda log in one of my tanks, and it spend up the sinking process with boiling it, but with out soaking it for a long time it still turned my tank brown....err. So I have been doing tons of water changes to get rid of that.
  11. Well I did a 40% in one of my tanks last night. As I was doing it, I remembered what everyone said. I t was a little painful because it goes against everything I have ever been taught about water changes. After i was finished i sat and watched my tank to make sure the fish where fine, I figured if something goes sides ways I can get the fish out and put them in different tanks, until i can fix the problem....... And everything seemed fine. So this morning when i looked.(right when I got up, even before hitting the bathroom) the fish where all fine. And looked normal. i know I didnt start this post, BUT it helped me out alot. Thank you everyone.
  12. those are amazing Fish!!!1 Thats for the pics
  13. Ok, Im going to try today n my 90 gallom tonite, before I try it on my tank with My trout, or my fronts.... fingers crossed
  14. How aggresive are they? Can they hold there own against Cichlids? i know there small now, so maybe like for a grow out tank, but when there bigger?
