  1. Yeah you should give her a rest if possible. But in reality if she's a healthy fish she could have another go at it soon. Since its her first time you said, she prolly has enough reserves after a week of feeding, to meet up with that baby daddy again. Congrats
  2. Haha those julies are not alway the friendliest. I think they are the golden julies right? I've had them in the past and they are real cool. I got mine from big als. I don't often buy fish there. But for in town african cichlids in edmonton, big als is the best selection. Your better bet is finding someone on here that has some. If you keep julies you will have fry!
  3. yeah they must be eating something, i cant find any dead ones and it looks like 50 was a modest estimation. I also think mom and dad have started again in their new home. this can really become a problem for me. They seem to be very thin but now when i spread some powdered food on the top and blow it under the water, they all eat. I found their original shipping document, they are altolamprologus compressiceps Chituta "red fin" nice fish. dad gets super dark when in the mood.
  4. crazy stuff, not my cup of tea but interesting nonetheless

    Greetings

welcome back to the hobby. What are you planning to start with?
  7. Thanks I worry about their physical health more than mine!
  8. yeah having similar ph would be a huge help. I have ordered fish from texas many times and they have always lived. with up to 24 hours in the bag. They have almost identical water to us so that always helps. I agree 4 to 5 hours should be easy. maybe almost drip them in next time. baby arrows arent exactly hardy as far as i know.
  9. thanks for the compliments on the rays. I really enjoy them. They are a lil more work than the average freshwater fish but worth it. I hope to own these two rays for many years.
  10. yeah the ranger pleco tried to own that wafer but was soon surronded by a dozen or so red back scraper fry and had to retreat. The rangers are awesome, huge sailfin like dorsal. I love the spotting, cool thing is they dont hide. the dominant 2 hang on the glass in the front middle of the panel. haha always right in my face.
  11. thanks, not sure wht the red spot is. Im hoping someone can tell me. Its a new mark on him. maybe it was from getting into the net. That was the hardest part. the male has around a 7 inch disk, the female a lil smaller like 6 or so. Now i need to figure out whats gonna live with the laticeps full time. I was thinking the gar when hes a lil bigger. Anyone have any ideas?

hahah no sucking for me! i just fill the tube with tank water and raise it up high enough to get the water to come out the bottom. as soon as it comes out the narrow end i plug it with my thumb. then submerge the wide end again in the tank. and ta da primed!

    Hello

Welcome. Wht sorts of fish did you have in mind.
  17. move complete! water is testing fine right now. Matched water ph and it was easy! like Scott said. I kept up on my wcs and the treated water and the ray tank were almost identical. rays are in new home. a lil spooked right now. look alot smaller in the 180. noticed my male has a small red circle aboutg half the size of a dime on his underside. any ideas?
  18. thanks jerry, i dont think they r eating but it seems like 50 are alive
  19. i dont think they are eating. how long till they will die? they all left the shell and are swimming around everywhere. Is there another option to feed them besides live?
  20. Yeah i have tried to mix up the diet but they are not feeling it. She will eat a few pieces of prawns but he pooh poohs everything. I have tried mysis shrimp bloodworms scallops squid nls wafers and even threw in 10 back scraper babies. he will inspect it but wont touch it. He will eat 7 jumbo dew worms a day if i let him. Im guessing i will have to starve em a lil longer. They are great creatures, like lil dogs when i walk in the room. they see the worm plate in my hands and get excited. I will post pics this weekend i promise~

    Hello

    welcome to the site!
  22. Yeah she is not growing as fast as the male. Ever since her lil illness she has been eating the same amount as the male but he's so big compared to her. She will even eat prawns but the male won't. The male will only eat dew worms. I can't get him to try anything else. I am going to wait till the weekend to make the move! Thanks for everyones help. Ill post pics when they are in their new home.
  23. Yeah microworms really helped my ocellatus babies survive. These fry are already past the spinning 360 swim stage. They all hover near the shell entrance. What aboubt freshly hatched brine shrimp? They just absorbed their yolk sacks. So I'm guessing they will start dying soon.
