  1. Yes it would .. .but they are hard to find. I know someone on here had one forsale awhile ago.. I should have bought that one :-( Still looking. I got a couple Pm's .. Thank u for sharing what u have!!
  2. hello all, Im on the fish hunt again. I own a small automobile shop in BC and have a 240 Gallon tank set up there. After selling off some of my fish, I have had alot of interest from customers in big unique fish. They really love my Lungfish :-p I love having an aggressive tank, and most of my customers get a kick out of fish with teeth haha. I had a 18inch Giant Snakehead(RIP) that eveyrone LOVED! Anywho, Im looking for a short list of fish... if anyone has any leads on such that would be awesome. I usually post up here every couple months to see whats out there. I have a smaller tank at home that Im willing to grow some smaller fish as well. In no order of wants.... RTC SnakeHead( prefer Another Red) Goliath Tiger fish Wolffish(black or others) another other interesting Fish to show off and Wow customers :-p Most all agressive fish get along with my lung fish for fear of being eaten.... thank u for reading J
  3. Update, I got a silver aro finally. Got him imported tothe local fish store. He was there for 2 days then I got him home. He has been doing fine for the last 4 days in the same tank the other fish died. So I can only say, it must have been the trip. Thanx again for all the advice! He is now living in his first grow tank of 30Gallons with a Pleco and a Raphy Catfish. And as far as I can tell, happy as a fish in water! Get it :-p
  4. Ok, I tested my water here in cranbrook. ITs 7.6 right out of the tap. It tis weird. I talked to Top Crop, our local fish store (which is sad) can import a silver Aro for 125 bucks from there suppier. With Gas, food, buying the fish.. its cheaper for me to take a chance getting one of theres for now..... I hope :chair: Thanx everyone :-)
  5. PS... Is there anyone on the site that deals with Silver Arowana's? I would really like an Asian Arowana but I cant take a 1000 dollar risk on a fish :grr:
  6. Those are some good ideas :-) I never did check the PH lvl of the water, that could be it! Just curious what the PH lvl of the tap water in Calgary is? Does is very from location pending on Water treatment plant? I dont believe it was the trip itself that kicked them unless it was stress... There has to be something in my house. The Pleco I bought survived but they are like cockroaches haha. :smokey: I guess that me not thinking, see.. Im glad I learned something today! Maybe I will try again importing fish haha. It just sucks cause .. u know, they cost lots of money just to die cause I make a mistake :chair: Thank u all for the advice!
  7. Thanx dude. I will look into it :-) Once I figure out who the spouncers are and I have money again to spend on fish .. I Will do that!

  8. sorry to hear about the fish - yeah and cranbrook's selection is somewhere between bad and horrible... possibly find out if its possible to fly them in from vancouver or Calgary to Cranny's airport is your best bet - I'm sure some of our sponcers can set-up a decent order and I know they all pack very well.

To help off-set the costs - try to do a group order

  9. haha .. I was just kidding :-p I know people have better things to do then to talk to me!!
  10. When I got them home, I up'd there temp very slowly. They went into an established tank where other fish are doing just fine. Im not sure what went wrong both times we have tried. I have also moved fish before these two occations. I have moved my bigger fish a couple times with no problems whatsoever. ITs making me gun shy in doing such which blows cause my home town has no cool fish I want :-( Thank u EDIT: I have not considered getting something flown in. Who would I ask? What airline would do that and how could I find out if they come to my small city :-p Anyone with experience that could help? I live in Cranbrook BC. We have an internation airport but Im unsure of which cargo companies fly in. I would very much consider paying someone to purchase and ship fish to me ( for there time as well) if it would increase the chances of the fish living :-)
  11. Hello, I made a trip to Calgary this weekend to try and transport some new fish back home to BC. I was excited to find a Silver Arowana and Glass Knifefish at Big Al's and someother fish store by there. Dont remember the name. I have had bad luck transporting small fish in the past, but felt the need to try again. Alas, this morning I woke up to both of them dead. ( Two other larger fish I had purchased are still alive) I assume the trama from the trip, temp changes etc was to much for the little babies to make it the 4-5 hour drive in the car... it makes me sad that I cant get any cool fish in my home location, and importing them seems to be impossible. I have tried other fish with no luck ... Rope fish, Long nose gar, etc ... All of which babies ... all of which dead. How do u transport your small fish around? I would assume most of u dont need to travel my distance, but any ideas how to make these fish live? I used fish travel containers, with lots of water and air... The car was warm, and the water didnt go below 74F.
  12. No one wants to say hi to me? Nice hello haha :-p
