Is my 'Media;' the black sponge? I am never sure what to do with that. Is it safe to rinse that just in tank water??

This morning when i got up she had them all back in her mouth again. She has since spit them out though. Maybe i will put her back with the others. The fry dont NEED her arround?? I just didnt want to split them up if i wasnt suposed to

Last night i stripped my mommy fish, and i am please to announce we have 8 new fry. They are all fairly active, and somtimes slip back into her mouth, but they seem to be okay! How long untill i should feed her, or let her back with the other fish??

Thanks so much! I did a water change last night, and checked it again, and they are still up. No fish have died, but i did feed them some blood worms recently. Maybe its from the bits at the bottom?? I will vacuum the tank tonight and see how that works! I have some 'ammo-lock' its an ammonia detoxifyer. Would that help??

I did a test strip in my tank today, and for the first time since ive had it, the nitrites are at about 2.0 i think. One of my fish has developed a bubble on her eyelid as well. She has fry in her mouth. And another of my fish has what looks like a cut or something on his head. Im not sure if these are realated, but id really like some tips! I also have some ammonia stuff for my tank, and i think i read that ammionia and nitrites go together. Would it help to use that? I am going to do a half water change also. Thanks

I was thinking the same thing. Feels like id be violating the poor thing, making her spit out her babies! lol

I dont think they will be trouble. Im going to wait for a bit and see what she does. From what i can see, the fry are still very tiny. What is 'stripping' the fish??

Well that is good to know. I know a few of them are in amungst my pebbles. Is there any chance they might hatch? I am keeping a diligent eye on the one with the fry in her mouth. I hope she keeps doing a good job as mommy! lol

Oh noooo!! I fed my fish some blood worms today, but they proved too tempting for the one with eggs. I seen her grab a bit of food in her mouth, then SPIT OUT all of her eggs. The other fish promptly ate them. I was sooo upset! lol I still have the other female with the fry in her mouth, so i wont be feeding them those worms for a while! haha

Yes, that is exactly what i see in one of the femals mouths. A bunch of sets of black eyes lol The other female has about 20 eggs or so in her mouth maybe. Is that about right?

As of right now he is doing great. I hung a broken tera cota planter in the corner he hides in so he just spends time in there, or behind the finter intake. The other fish are pretty much leaving him alone. If they get more aggressive ill let you know.

I have a fish with eggs in her mouth, and one i noticed today with what i think are FRY in her mouth! How long does it usually take a Eureka Peacock cichlid to hatch her eggs? This is a firs time for me and im so excited. Any tips would be great.

Ive got him a good hiding place now, and none of the openings are big enough for the meanies to get him lol. He seems content. Ive got some fish with eggs at the moment so i think the males are just extra aggressive.

Oh so they qill grow back? Thank goodness! lol He likes to hide up in the corner now so i hung a broken teracotta pot up there for him to hide behind. I think he likes it! lol

I feel so terrible. Today i bought a pretty little albino longfinned pleco and i just noticed my other fish bit his rear fin off! Is there anything i should or can do? I hope he will be okay! PS I dont know why i keep spelling my posts wrong! lol
