  1. so at the auction last year i bought a 18x18x18 cube i was going to use for breading i decided to go with a sand bottom but didn’t want the hassle so i silicone the sand down looks super nice problem is every fish i put in there so far has only lasted about an hour i was prity sure i used the right 100% silicone but now i wonder as i have a sponge filter that i took from another tank and the water is right from my other tank with the rest of the fish same temp i even have drained it and filled it up a few times now just to see but same thing they swim like crazy and then die in about an hour

anybody have any ideas or should i just scrap it and find another tank

  2. what are the specs for this wonderful tank, if you don't mind me asking?

its 84x42x28 works out to about 428 gallon with a 90 gallon sump with 120# of creamic rings in the sump i do 3 30% water changes a week

dang thats an awesome tank! now you just need some plants for in there! heh heh heh!

I totaly would love to make it a planed tank would be somthing to see for sure but to hard as im still trying to grow the discus out and they get fed 5 times a day but one day it may make one heck of a planted tank i may still try to do so in some pots to help keep the bare bottom

    Amy

how many discus in there? pretty sweet

I think there is somewere around 65 give or take never really got a count after i lost track majority i grew up from the size of a quarter for the last year two stingrays and about 9 plecos the three koi got to big and steel to much food now and are for sale

Very nice tank! I am going to say its around 500gallons? What was in the little tank on the bottom right?

that tank has more baby koi but need to move it and put up another breading tank for another pair from the big tank

is that koi with the discus?

    or did i see wrong?

thats really random,i have never seen that

yea its koi with discus i bought them as babys last summer to help clean up what the discus dont eat and now they got to big to fast so there up for sale

thanks all for watching my video i plan on taking more once i get it all set up with the tiki theme

  3. i just cut up old windows and put the hinge from aquagiant (buck a foot) on and stik on a small handel no slide just make the second piece what ever size you want your feeding area if need be its not hard topull off if you need to get in the tank

  4. I had 2 fx5 and an ehime running on my 150 gallon and the only thing i had in them was ceramic rings I was running with a bb tank and did 50% water changes but i could tell when i was slacking as the water didnt look as clean i ended up setting up a reactor with just floss in it to polish the water when i needed

  5. Soim about to transfer from my 150 to my large tank about 480 gallons total rightnow i have 2 fx5 1 ehime and one sponge filter running on my 150 i have thesump all running on the new tank nothing in it yet just fresh water . Thefilters on the old tank are just filled to the brim with ceramic rings and suchnot sure what it would all work out to but i have an additional 100 # of ringsthat aren’t cycled at this time is my filtration going to be covered if i justmix all the old media with the new would say it would work out to about 1 oldto 5 new kind ratio i know it will take some time for the new to getestablished but in the mean time will i still be covered as it was enough inthe small tank just different ways of delivery

  6. if you want to go salt a drilled tank is the way to go just get some good live rock pest free off someone parting out there tank i may have to start soon as no one has even looked at my setup and for the price im asking id never even come close to making money back i went bigger for everthing never got in to the corals went with a predator tank

  7. plenty of people selling live rock for 4$ a pound or less just have to keep looking as far as skimmers goes i had a cheap one that seemed to work better then the expensive one i bought as an upgrade may have to go back to it but used up that space in the sump so its still for sale if you need worked on a heavy bio load on a 135 and they guy i bought it from had it on a even bigger tank and worked for him

  8. the problem I see is you should plumb an automatic top off. the overflow doesn't hold much water. the evaporation rate of a 240 will cause you to need to top up every day to keep the level in the overflow anywhere near stable.

    +1

  9. so i was changing the impeller when i went to go get some tools my buddy being the fool he is used gas to get it loose dont ask me why but i was wondering if it can come out it has a smell of gas after. I put it in water right after and am letting it soak but i wonder if it to late ? any ideas on how to clean it would be sweet of if i should just scrap it thanks

  10. I have a 100 gallon tank 5 ft long so its not that deep it has a fluval 405 and i was going to add a fluid sand bed filter and a protinen skimmer with the live rock the tank is not drilled and im not to sure how to tell if i can drill it.i am wondering if this setup will work for a saltwater setup ? please and thanks
