Thanks, The fish in the tank are actually purple and smaller than the dwarf gouramis I have already. Well, whatever they are, they're pretty cool looking. Anything you can find out would be much appreciated.

Was in PJ"s WestEd today and they have a tank labeled with Purple Paradise Gourami's and Spiketail Paradise Gourami's. I can't seem to find any info on the purple paradise. I would have asked but it was way too busy there. Just wondering if anyone knows how big they get and how aggressive they are? I have three dwarf gourami's, along with guppies, danio's, loaches, and rainbow fish.

Big Al's has three of them now. Well, a few days ago they did. Think they were $27

Wondering how BGK's get along with other fish. So far I have some guppies, Zebra danio's, 3 Dwarf gourami's, a Golden Dojo loach and a Kuhli loach. Just wondering if a BGK would be ok in this community? Would I have to worry about him eating the guppies/danios? Also, wondering what their growth rate is. Seen some at Big Al's this weekend that were about 4-5 inches. I only have a 55gal tank right now, but would like to upgrade in a couple years. I know BGK's can grow up to 20" and would need a 100gal+ tank when they're full grown. Wondering how long it takes them to grow to full size. Any input would be welcome. Thanks.

Wondering if anyone knows where I can buy some Nerite snails? I've only been to Big Al's, Petsmart and PJ's so far and haven't seen any. Just wondering if any of the specialty stores sell them.

Umm, you got me there, I'm at work and totally can't remember what they were called. I'll look it up when I get home. Not totally sure yet that I want to do a planted tank. So I'm mainly wanting a light system for brightness and color, $200 or less range.

I'm in the market for a new lighting fixture. Just wondering what I should be looking for? I have a 55gal tank, it's about 48" long with a variety of freshwater fish and a few plants. Are LED's worth it? The guy at Big Al's tried to sell me on them last week.

Thanks for the welcome. Not quite sure yet, I plan on starting off simple as I still getting my feet wet, pardon the pun. I was a little undecided if I want to do a planted tank or not. But I set it up on Monday past, and I'm not sure how easy it would be now to put plants in there, guess I should have waited. Oh well. is it still possible? I'll be doing freshwater and want to have an assortment of colorful community fish, any suggestions?

New member here. In the process of starting up my first aquarium. A co-worker gave me a 55gal tank for free. Just bought a stand for it yesterday. Hopefully I'll get it setup this weekend. I've wanted an aquarium ever since I can remember. I've been doing lots of research and I thought this forum would be informative. Thanks.
