  1. Biggest they have is a 3/4" and it was $14. I might end up ordering online.
  2. Yes they are, they are limited by the RO membrane. I am not running it through a RO membrane just sediment filters and a carbon block. The sediment filters shouldn't be affected by the flow rate as they are strictly a mechanical filter but the carbon block absorbs impurities as well as filters mechanically. I did a little research and the slower, the better. I did some tests last night and I won't be able to use it anyways as my water filter water has a GH reading of 0° and a KH of 16°. I wasn't planning on using it with my shrimp but the final water parameters aren't what I would like them to be. Ron
  3. Hello, I was wondering what people thought of the type of filtration I need to put well water through before I can use it. Right now I run all of my water through a RO or a RO/DI filter. I replumbed one of my old systems to just go through 2 sediment stages and a carbon block. Will that be enough filtration to be useable? Is there a certain rate I should limit the filter to? Is there a specific minimum contact time my carbon block needs to absorb impurities? Thanks, Ron
  4. Hey jumpsmasher, I went to Lowes to get a rack for my aquapnoics set up and they are on sale right now for $159.87 from $198.00.....time to get a bigger PRL rack going.
  5. If AI is getting them I'll bet that Patrick is bringing them in and they should be 120V, let me check with Frank again. That fishroom is awesome......why did I put so many darn bedrooms in my basement......now will the wife let me tear down a wall, after all the house is a year old now, LOL.
  6. Some what, they still freak out when they run into each other. The female closest in the second pic only has one leg left on the other side, good thing I took a picture of her good side....LOL. Also there is another female in the first pic in the tubes closest to the front and she currently only has one claw. I think it's good to have floaters and moss, the Java moss slows them down when chasing each other and they can grab on to the hornwort if they get spooked and shoot up off the bottom.
  7. Just set up a 15 gallon with Akadama yesterday. Screened it and got about a 60/40 split of small pieces to big. Put my additives on the bottom, about 3/4" layer of the big pieces and then 3/4" layer of the small. Got the water in without disturbing it to badly but when I ran a bamboo skewer through it to get the air bubbles out, it clouded pretty bad but an Aquaclear with filter floss cleared it up pretty quick. It was sitting at a pH of 5.5 before I added in my ammonia last night to feed my cycled filter, then it went to 6.0 and it's at 5.9 now. Not sure if those readings are any good anyways as the TDS reading is 0 ppm. I'll let you know once I remineralize it. I used RO/DI water and when I first added it, it was reading a pH of 5.1. Ron
  8. Been taking pictures of my tanks for another thread and caught a couple cool ones. Thanks for looking, Ron
  9. Mexican Orange Dwarf crayfish standoff to be more precise. I was crushing up some Shirakura for them and they all came out to get some. Ron
  10. I asked about the Up HOB cannisters for you already but he said they are 220V. Might have to look into divided tanks but I already feel that 40 gallon tanks are too big to be moving around and I move things around a lot. Ron
  11. I did buy 8 more 6 hole breeding tubes which brings me up to 35, you can never have too many especially once the Marbled crayfish start producing. I love the 24" deep rack I was thinking of getting 3 - 24" x 24" per level or like you said a couple 36" x 24" but I'm not keen on dividing. How were you thinking of dividing without overly restricting flow? I wonder if you can find SS mesh in 24" sheets. Hmmmm, thanks for the heads up on the tiles, maybe once the moss is established I'll lose the bases. Thanks for the link. Thanks
  12. What do you want to see? Here are a few, let me know if you want to see something else. Neo tanks Carbon Rili tank OEBT tank CPO Tank with breeder box for a berried female Blue Bolt and BKK Panda tank Ron
  13. Thanks. They are similar racks available at Lowes and Home Depot, I prefer the one at Lowes. Each shelf is 72" x 24" and is rated for 2000 lbs. I put sheets of plywood on top and if the tanks don't span the 24", I make it fairly thick. The middle shelf had a sheet of 1/2" and a sheet of 3/4" plywood.
  14. Hello, My set ups are very simple compared to jumpsmasher's. Most with a Pyrex 11 cup container with "inert" gravel, breeding tubes, some moss and some dishes. I keep my Neos and Tigers at 7.0 - 7.2 pH and 200 - 450 ppm TDS. Most just filtered with an Aquaclear HOB. On the main rack from left to right and top to bottom 10 gallon, betta albimarginata 10 gallon, Super Tiger shrimp 10 gallon, OEBTs 10 gallon, Pumpkin shrimp 10 gallon, Carbon Rili shrimp 10 gallon, PFRs 40 gallon, Marbled crayfish, RCS and a Tiger crayfish 30 gallon, Tiger eels 15 gallon, just setting up for CRS 15 gallon, CPO and Blue Rili shrimp Fluval Ebi, Chocolate shrimp Fluval Ebi, Celestial Pearl Danios and RCS On the bottom of my stand to the right 40 gallon, Sterlets 15 gallon, Blue Bolt and BKK Panda shrimp The cage on top house my pair of Kimberley Rock Monitors Thanks for looking. Ron
  15. Thanks all, I guess I'll just bring my box of parts from store to store till I find all of the pieces.
  16. Hello, I'm trying to recreate a bell siphon that I puchased for my aquaponics system and I am looking for a place in Calgary that might carry all of the components, anyone know of the best little PVC place in Calgary? Thanks, Ron
  17. Got a tip from another forum and went to Ikea to get some these dishes, larger and not quite as nice as my Ebi-Ten but for $3.49 for 6 how could I not. Here are my Super Tigers in their Ebi-Ten feed trough Ron
  18. The grey ones are Ebiken Shou, for water purifying. The beige ones are Ebiken Nagomi, slowly releases trace minerals.
  19. Nah, I'm actually thinking of going the other way and only keeping 5 or 6 types in bigger tanks. I would like to go to 48 or 65 gallons so maybe an ADA 90-P or 120-P.
  20. If you ever come through Calgary, feel free to stop by and build a rack...LOL It'll take a lot of shrimp to fill that rack.....oh the possibilities.
  21. Yeah they're pretty small, do you know what their adult size is compared to a Neo? I think 2 of mine show blue hues and the others are a very stark white so maybe they'll develop more blue as they mature and I'll have a couple Shadow Pandas. The first pic is an OEBT, I have a have the full spectrum of OEBTs in my tank from blonde to almost BTOE.
  22. Thanks. Now that TBs are supposed to be less delicate, hopefully more people will give them a try. Thanks. Yes it is ADA Africana Powder, in the picture it shows up lighter than the actual colour. I would say he can get just about anything from Asia as long as it's legal and worth his time. I'll ask about the Ebi-Ten PRL. My set up is quite simple and wouldn't be hard to recreate, if you need any help just ask. I think the best investment was my pH/TDS/conductivity meter. Now I can check my parameters daily, or hourly , and catch any problems before they are out of control. I think whatever is shiney and new will always catch my eye, the Blue Bolts are awesome and they better be my favourite for the price of them. Ron
  23. Well it didn't start off too hot with the flight from Vancouver being diverted from Calgary to Edmonton because of fog but after a 3 hour change in schedule, things went pretty smooth. Here are a couple pics of new arrivals. I also got a bunch of regular RCS to keep my Marbled crayfish company Thanks for looking, Ron
