  1. My vouche is in for the AC500's too. I prefer them WAAAAY over canister filters.
  2. You should be able to mix the two in a large enough tank (33 gal+)
  3. I'm gonna call Mpanga on this too; seemingly as how it's the only Ps. elongatus of that look that's been circulating in Calgary in the last couple of years.
  4. Those are some pretty crisp pictures you have going there! Nice work!
  5. You could try a teacup, they have a max disc width of 12", give or take. They are super hard to keep (comparatively speaking - motoro's) though. A lot of them have a tendancy to roll over dead. I suspect it has more to do with diet then anything though.
  6. It's about time! Board prowler!
  7. Right on Albert! How are you keeping the GSP's from taking over such a small area? I'm impressed you've been able to keep it stable for so long. How long has the livestock been in there? It's times like this that I consider getting a part-time job at a fish store! But that may feed the addiction a bit too much. Bah, I got sick of it (size and the filter kept on leaving salt creep on my desk) and moved everything into my 72 and 25. Gave the Razzle Dazzle to this girl who kept on harrassing me for it... Kept the light though, ahaha. The GSP's were monster. I made a slight miscalculation when I moved the whole thing though: Stupid harlequin shrimp has free reign to kill and slaughter the mini-stars as he pleases... Good thing I have this massive refugium thing going.
  8. In a million years, or so it seems. I don't put the shelves together, I just keep them stocked. haha
  9. Who said anything about tuba? I think they're pretty weak sauce too. Tomocichla tuba = CRUSH Tomocichla asfraci = STRONG Vieja argentea = STRONG Nandopsis haitiensis = STRONG :chair:
  10. Doubtable, at Rapps' prices, you'd be looking at prices starting at $18 per fish... I'll have to email Rapps and see if he does volume discount.
  11. Dennis is still debating. This might have to wait til after Xmas though.
  12. ... They've been paired for over six months man. But no, I'm keeping them. haha
  13. Whoa.. ditched the overflow! That's an awesome shape for a tank man! Lots of room for growth there! Hope to see more pics as this thing shapes up.
  14. Gold Aquariums sells IO in 160's for $65 and ReefCrystals in 160 for $80
  15. Green-X noted. Sorry to hear about your problems... :guns:
  16. Instant Ocean. Stuff is dirt cheap for me so I drive with what I got.
  17. Good call! Hey, how long ago did you have the orientalis?
  18. I've thought of it the same way. You got your lateral displays, your mouthing, your fin flaring. It's always neat to see parallels in different hobbies eh? This kind of activity has been at an all time high the last couple days, I'm hoping they might spawn soon so that I'll have some cool pics and bragging rights, ahah. Anyway, thanks to everyone for all the kind comments, I'll post up some more videos if anything interesting pops up.
  19. It's Caribsea. As far as I know, Southdown is not available in Canada nor is it a "true" aragonite substrate (mainly calcite). I'll have more pics of the tank as it starts to fill up and I'm able to actually keeps mollusk alive in it. At this point, there seems to be something leeching from the insulation foam I am using as a background (Great Stuff Insulation Foam) that's killing off the snails. Crustaceans and echinoderms seem happy as far as I can tell. Hopefully, the introduction of carbon, a protein skimmer and a water change will fix this minor problem and help me deal with the diatoms and minor hair algae growth. If anyone is interested, here are the tank specs: 24" x 12" x 20" 25 Gallon custom tank, drilled 20 Gallon sump with a homemade baffle and plumped with a Mag 700 Pair Gold Strip Maroon Clowns (GSMC's) Three Tassled Filefish - to be moved to my 72 as soon as they hit the 3" mark One Electric Blue Hermit Pair Reef Lobsters which I am going to tenatively identify as Enoplometopus daumi Three million (give or take a few) small brittle stars Eventual additions: The Banana Eel (Gymnothorax melatremus) living in my 72 gal tank sump, perhaps another if I can get one in The Starki Damsel, also in the aforementioned sump A Royal Gramma SUPER ULTIMATE WET DREAM FISH - Paracentropyge boylei aka. Peppermint Angel - I've heard these fish are super hard to keep though, and with an average MONSTER price tag of $700 - $2,000 US a pop, it's gonna take a lot of lying to myself to get one.
  20. They've actually been paired for over six months. That kind of behavior happens round the clock. Maroons will either kill each other or pair, that's it, there's no median to the behavior. It's not actually pairing that you're seeing there, but rather pair bonding behavior. The actual pairing process involved a lot of nipping and chasing while the two established who would become dominant. That all happened a long while back in my 50 gal refugium (choked with macro algae, I think that helped a bit). They're in a 25 now btw. The fish popping up at the top is a tassled filefish, I have three of them in there with the clowns. Everyone is happy except me since I don't have any coral going in that tank yet... Can't win it all and drive home on the same night I suppose, haha. Rahim, they're at my place at my mom's. Chris, I use cichlids.ca's webspace all the time. It's basically under my control, haha. I had it set up through an inside hook up with EnertiaSoft so my bandwidth is barely a concern (within reason).
  21. Seeing that apisto brings back memories of saving up all my allowance to bring home a pair of $40 (each!!!) fish from Pisces back when I was 13, haha.
