  2. thanks for the advice all and for the congrats chelsea. I guess I will take it all down and just play it safe.
  3. hey all, My wife and I have decided to move to bigger digs, since she is now about 18 weeks preggo, The place we are in now is too small for the 2 of us and our son as it is, so adding another child will make it a little cramped. Not to mention the columbian cloud that looms around the neighbours door in the common hall that Ive now had to explain to my 3 year old son. This brings me to ask about the tank. Its a 36gal with a bunch of different fish. The fish arent what Im so worried about tho since I have a couple small tanks that could serve as temp homes for the 3 minute walk to the new place. however I have a lot of rocks in my substrate that hold all the plantscape together. My sub is sand otherwise. How much weight can the bottom of my tank hold? its typical thickness of glass for the size of tank. 1/4 to maybe 3/8 ish? Do I have to tank my scape apart while I carry it over? It will obviously be totally drained of water. Any advice?
  4. hey i dont get it. whats ei?
  5. make sure you post pics! this is pretty sweet!
  6. lol garage sales are full of gold. people are often so clueless of the things that they have!
  7. inverts! mts snails for your gravel/sand and apples or zebras for plant leafs and rocks are my suggestions.
  8. bwaha! thats pretty awesome. more so about the chain than the 42 year old.
  9. lol sweet. was it an old couple? i usually find those joke items at old folks garage sales. I found a little fakey outhouse that said 'time saver- seats two' on the front. When you opened it it had a normal outhouse seat in it with a ladder to another shelf above with the same size hole in it as the out house seat directly over the other seat....
  10. hey all. just scored a sweet tank stand for my little 5 gallon. Walked into a garage sale and my wife spied it up right away. Being the tunnel vision kind of guy that I am, I wasnt even thinking about that since I had planned to build my own. So, I thought Id see what everyones favourite Garage Sale find has been. Ever go and find something super cool?
  11. lol I guess I have some Itunes purchasing to do! Thanks for the tips. Ill have to read that right away!
  12. hey all, so I am wondering someone could give me a breakdown on what I have to do to get my plecos to mate. I dont know for sure how to sex them but Im thinking that I have 2 males and a female based on sized difference. I think that the female is the bigger and the males the smaller. Maybe Im wrong. Any help would be nice. Thanks
  13. hey all, just wondering what peoples experience with crayfish are? I have a 5 gallon tank that a buddy gave me. is that going to be big enough. Im thinking of an invert only tank. Aplle snail, cray, and some shrimp. What do you think?
  14. hey man, I have sand in my tank too. I vac it thoroughly once in a while. all you have to do is pinch the hose on your vac snake (like when you want to stop a garden hose) and then slowly open it up so it flows slowly through and it will turn the sand in the tube part but not bring it through. just a tip
  15. feel free to do what you think mullin. I dont know. So far i think that Im into the vampire crabs, just have to find them and get to the city to buy....

  21. Hey all, have recently thought it would be fun to find some aquatic crabs to put in my 36gal. So, whats your favourites? Your recommendations? Ive liked them since I went to the best western on the south side of edmonton to clear their nasty FW tank, and got told of their crab somehow getting out and terrorizing patrons....crabs are awesome haha
  22. would be easier to figure that out by species. Are you wanting to start a chiclid tank? Angels?
