  1. I saw Electric Blue Rams at Pisces on Tuesday.

I picked up 6 of these guy a few weeks ago (From Big Al's). They had the ich so had to quarantine them, no big deal...they are doing great, eating lots and very active lil buggers.

Pisces only had GBR mixed in with Bolivian Rams at 19.99 each....I got my Electric Blues for 14.99 at Big Als

  2. Very cool Darryl, I got some cherry shrimp right now as well in my Fluval Flora, got rid of all my other tanks due to moving, but I might pickup some tanks again in the near future, I miss them already.

As far as substrate goes, anything dark will do, as it will make your shrimp pop more, and they will get better color. I use the Flourite Seachem, its awesome stuff, but pricey.

  3. It's always amazing to see fish spawn and take care of the eggs. Looks like people have already given you some great advice, best of luck. When I was breeding, I had the eggs in a 10 gal tank until they were about the size of a dime, then moved them into the 50 gal tank...Had around 150-200 each spawn.

You will want to get rid of all the deformed or flawed fry early on as they wont sell, and just take up space. It's hard at first,..the older they get the worse you feel about it haha at least it was like that for me.

It's a lot of fun to raise them, but also lots of work, but worth it in the end.

    Best of luck

  4. Having bred German Blue Rams, as well as Angelfish with regular Calgary water, I would suggest just trying it out...its worked fine for me, and people have told me that I needed to soften my water. Just keep up with regular weekly water changes and have them in a breeding tank with a sponge filter.

  5. I dont see why they shouldn't be able to eat the daphnia, from what I've read, daphnia is recommended for the smallest fry that are unable to eat bbs.

I raised my GBR fry on daphnia for the first week, then switched to bbs. I dont know how big the rainbow fry are, but the GBR fry were so tiny, I had to use a magnifying glass to be able to see them properly (or maybe I just need glasses)

either case, they are very small.

  6. sweet, I also picked up a couple pairs from rainbowric but have not tried to collect eggs. They have been going like crazy though, always flaring the fins and chasing eachother. Once I finish with my GBR and Angel fry, I will give them a try. Let us know how they do. Congratz on the new fry, hope they do well for ya.

  7. BBS would probably work best, since its alive and will still float around if not eaten. Feed them before work, when you get home, and before bed and you should be fine.

You can try First Bites, but that wont be as effective, but should be fine as long as you keep up daily water changes as it will rot fast. Daphnia works good too.

  8. Hello all, just wanted to share some pictures of my new Angelfish pair which are currently raising some fry. Just took a few quick pictures as I did not want to stress them out much. They have been moving them around the tank 3-5 times now, Earlier today they were all neatly huddled in the back corner of the tank, parents are very busy trying to keep them all in place. Very cool to watch all this happen.

I also uploaded a quick video on youtube, only about 20 sec long, but it shows the amount of fry much better.
