  1. Thanks, I guess now I have to post my community tank. Something new to learn.
  2. Thanks for the info, I've been looking for a reason to go to the new Lowes and maybe a shop light is just the thing. I do like the look of the T5 light fixtures and if I can run those bulbs until they die then they would be good. I didn't realize that the LED's were that much. Looks like my options are wide open and the cost is reasonable.
  3. I'm new to the forum and have been reading lot's of good info. One thing I am struggling on finding is Landscaping ideas for my new aquarium. There are lots of photos of Fish in the Photo section but it's hard to see or find photos on Tanks and their landscaping. I was thinking a section on this would be nice, I assume others would like ideas for new or existing setups or just show off their setups. This could also be that I'm new to the forom and have'nt figured it out yet. Is there something I am missing in the search as an option where I could search only posts with attachments and landscaping
  4. I just ordered a custom tank 48x21x27 and I'm planning on stocking with African Cichlids (and hopefully some plants). Should I go for the LED lighting? They look to be a bit more money but my thinking was that I shouldn't have to change the bulbs where with the T5s the bulbs only last 6 months or are supposed to be changed that often. I'm not even sure they sell 4' LED's or if they are bright enough. Couldn't find any topics on this but I am a little forum chalanged. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  5. Hello everyone, I am expanding my Fresh water tanks. I currently have a 75 gallon community tank with Tetras, Sail Fin Mollies, Garamis, Hatchets, Flying Foxes, swords, platies and a few other species. Sorry I don't know them all since my son likes buying fish he thinks are cool. They all get along so all is great. I just purchased a 117 gallon (custom) that I'm going to set up with Africans. I see there is a forum for that so I'm going to be reading lot's in the next few days and hope to get some landscaping ideas. I am planning on dual Fluval FX5 for lots of filteration and lots of fish. I am thinking of a landscape of slate (flat rocks, not sure of the kind) all stacked up with long and short rocks alternating with open space with the short rocks, I hear that plants are going to be a challange since Africans like to dig but I might try anyways and if they don't work out I can put them in the community tank. Looking forward to getting involved with this forum.
