Is it difficult to obtain a well bonded pair?

Cardinal tetras are my latest frustration. They breed no problem, but you think I can keep the little buggers alive?! Also the new Wapoga Red Laser rainbowfish. These are proving to be difficult to keep alive when very small.

I have raised fry in tanks loaded with leaf litter and floating plants that block out almost all light. There may be some validity to the eggs being light sensitive but the microbe colonies on the decaying leaf litter are key to fry survival. They graze on it and it gets them over the hump.

Planning to set up a large show tank with either Dovii or Managuensis once my new place is finished. Anyone keep these that can offer up advice/experiences/tips on husbandry of these monsters? My only experience with them was on the end my line in Nicaragua.

What are the wierd livebearer fry? I'm always interested in wild types if you have a surplus.

Big Als Calgary has some of these cool fish - apex predator of Southeast Asian blackwater habitats. Not something you see every day.

Anything not wild type - I think nature had it right the first time.

I saw them too - mislabeled as "mouth breathing bettas" - as opposed to nose breathing bettas.

Looking for wild type livebearers - sword tails and Limas but poecilia mexicana in particular.

The 1st 2 I see regularly but haven't seen the 3rd type that I can recall. The stock lists change constantly though and I can also ask my suppliers if they can get them.

I'm also looking for some Poecilocharax weitzmani/Black Darter Tetras. I found a few in a shipment of wild cardinals but ended up with only males.

Just curious if what apistogramma people are keeping. I used to keep a lot if them and just recently started getting back into fish keeping. Anyone have any interesting wild forms? Seems shops only bring in tank bred strains that are not nearly as nice as the wild coloration.

Thanks - good to see another dart frogger on here.

Jiffy peat pellets should work fine. You can get them anywhere now with gardening season getting started. Just cut the casing off after you soak them. You shouldn't need to use the whole pellet. I just picked up 30 pellets for $5 at Superstore.

Yeah, any brand would work fine - I had only seen it by Fluval before. All I have seen lately are peat pellets and granules.

Anyone know where to find some?
