  1. My tank is finally starting to fill in!

Sorry ya'll I don't know the names of my plants off the top of my head, I have them in my book at home maybe I'll edit them in here afterwards.

LIGHTING: 65 watt compact fluorescent 10,000k

P.s. please excuse all the scrap clippings floating around, my platy is ready to pop some more fry so I keep them in there temporarily for hiding spot for fry until I can hopefully get them out before the angelfish has his way with them

    looking good

  2. so my queston is is this forum ment to be somewere for ppl to link there kijiji adds? i am seeing more and more of this from some users and just wondering what the leter of the law is ?

:well: :guns: :guns: :guns: :guns: :guns: :bang1:

  3. I have since talked to Finnex, maybe 2 weeks ago. Something to do with customs and they can't or won't ship here for the time being.

Tigs, good idea about what plants or level of light. I usually like to go somewhere around medium, although I know if I use a sunblaster it's going to be more than that. Using Cainechow's ingenious coat hanger solution I can get it above the water, and then use floaters if I need to. The up side is that those lights aren't crazy expensive like a real aquarium light is.

Laurensdad - Have you been able to find those 20" bulbs. I have a couple of those fixtures and the only place I have been able to find them is from Odyssea direct.

big als and ac stocks the fixters it is hit and miss when you need bulbs i have them on my 27 galon cube and there 18" bulbs there fixters is 20"

  4. Thought this topic was a good new dandy DYI way to add scratches.

I've used a random orbital polisher with a paste of that powder pot cleaner stuff...Ajax etc to buff my vehicle windshield to take out some scratches @ view level.

    it is man

step one let the 3 year old see you use mag float / walmart green one

step 2 let her use it.

step 3 leve it in the tank.

step 4 let her use it when ever she walks past.

step 5 walmart green one that dose not float gets pulled apart and snaped back on at gravel

step 6 3 year old reachs as high as she can to make tank prity

    step 7 see new scatch

    step 8 go wtf?

step 9 see rock in mag float

step 10 mag float no longer lives in tank.

  5. So my 3 and 4 year old got ahold of my.mag float and they managed to get a rock in it. Is there any.way to remove scratch in tempered glass tank with out replaceing the glass.

Plan B is turn the tank.180 but i think there is.a.schatch on the back pain when i got it.

  6. yes sir!

I got frustrated with the plumbing issue and the lack of supplies available in town. So I called a guy who had a full set up and asked him to trade me for a couple hobs and a little cash to part with his canister filter. With the HOBs he can at least still call his set up a 'complete' and still charge his crazy kijiji price http://AlbertaAquatica.com/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/tongue2.gif

I got myself a Rena XP2 filter. Super easy set up and Im running it now. Im going to part the FX5 together for a complete set up. Ill either sell it, or save it for the inevitable change to a larger set up. Thats if I dont just say 'screw it' and get a sump for my next size up.

I was hoping to get the FX5 running on my tank, since it would have done a super job.

On another note, media is ridiculous in price. If I would have purchased all the Rena recommended media for that filter, I would have ended up spending close to 80 bucks. I wound up buying 1 pack of 20 ppm and 1 pack of 30 ppm foams that I can rinse and reuse. Then I bought AC HOB media bags for my carbon and bio pieces to replace the Rena bio stars that cost a little more than $1.30 per star. I paid 14 and change for 3 bags of each in the AC brand. Then of course I bought the Big Als brand filter floss for 10 bucks.

All in all I spent 53 bucks on media to get this canister running. At least I can use Carbon that I can purchase here in Barrhead and have enough floss to last a really long time http://AlbertaAquatica.com/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/smile.png

    You still use carbon

  7. Awesome thanks, picked this up at Aquarium Illusions. Been watching for something like this at AC but if he got it in I missed it. Thinking now that I'll add it to my 33G switching out some more water sprite as my Cherrys in there will appreciate it more. Can't wait for the other tank to finish cycling. Have a ton of rescaping to do in all my tanks. Especially the 75 standard to hopefully coax the angels to breed lol now if only I could grow houseplants.

Use water change water in your.houseplants they will love it
