  1. Stem plants get 80-90% of there nutrients from the water in the tank and not in the substrate . so root tabs are not much help at all. The roots are just there to hold it in place.

    When you plant a stem

plant you want to take off the growth on the last 2 or 3 nodes and then just sick it in the ground can be a pain in the a$$ to get them to stay there.

When splitting a stem plant I want 6 to 7 nodes of growth for it to work.

A node is the stick part then the bump that the leafs grow out of.

What I try and do is put the stem stuff at the back of your tank and let it go around heaters and stuff it will hide the stuff and helps to stop the fish from pulling them out.

the one thing that will damage some stem plants is cold water how do you do your water changes?

If your in Edmonton you can stop buy and get a bit of free
hardy plant that grows like weed

  2. Thanks for the support everyone. She passed this evening.

I think tomorrow I will do the substrate boil. I might even get new substrate. Does anyone know where to get eco complete in Edmonton?

Jay, what are your thoughts on FENbenzadole? I've read about it, but it seems a little more dangerous for the fish...

Sorry to hear about.your bad luck ac stocks.it most of the time

  3. Whats the ph of your tap water? How big was.last.water.change. .6ph is not that big of a.deal . Have you.add any.rocks or anything.to.your tank how long has your tank been running? Some slate and other rocks will change your.water over time. What is your waters kh and gh if your water is hard like most of.edmontons changeing ph is a pain.... Soft water on the.other hand you can mess with ph no.problem

    Sorry posted from my phone

  4. I only get my fish.from one store I float and dump in to a net and drop no.fish.store water. Gos in to my tank. If a slightly sensitive like a outo I'll add.some tank.water to the.bag. If fish is in bag for a hour or more I'll add tank water to.help prevent Ph shocks.

    I have yet to lose fish.with my.method

PS I normally let the bag of fish.sit.on the couch for 5 min before I sit it in tank.

Plants.sometimes get a excel bath 5 mill in to 1 to 2 Gallons of water if I see pond.snails

  5. What is your lighting? What town are you in ?

For ph it is like pinks all out drag raceing show run what you brung. Most fish will do fine with.hard tap water. Ciclids love it. Whats your bio load in the tank. ? You might just need more fish poo.! Is your lights.on a timer are they on 10 to 13 hours a day?

  6. i am thinking of makeing my 75g planted tank in to salt water.

what i have right now is a 75 galon tank that i can not drill.

4 t5ho lights for plants with timers etc

    2 ehime pro 3 filters a 2075 and a 2073

all the heaters and other crap need for a tank.

what would i need for a fish only setup?
