Just as the title says, I'm hoping for identification on these two plants I recently got from aqua giant. (Couple weeks back I think)
-
If you have large enough cichlids, nothing will work, not even Anubias. My Texas Cichlid destroys plants over night and if he doesn't get them... Someone else will. If they're larger than 8" I wouldn't even bother, but if you try it anyways and it works out please post it up here!

that looks suspiciously like coroplast which would float so you'd have to weigh it down. If you want to use it, get it from a sign supply wholesaler and you'll get a much better deal than Home Depot. It's great for a cheap tank lid or works well as a background.
The few spots I need it, it will be siliconed right into the tank, so floating shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for the heads-up though!

Know what it is but why? The only reason would be to save of weight of substrate. I've already created slopes with sand/gravel/rock.
To create the exact slopes and contours I want as well as "cliff" walls and whatnot without having to worry about the hills and whatnot deteriorating once there gets to be some flow in the tank.
-
Aloha! Anyone ever used tenplast to create slopes in their aquarium?
If you don't know what tenplast is, it's basically plastic cardboard.
-
Hmm that doesn't sound right does it. 1 1/2" dirt 1/2" gravel and 1/2" sand?
Anytime I've tried to mix sand and gravel, the sand all just falls through to the bottom anyways.
-
You will be amazed how EASY the job is to do. The most work goes into prepping it - be anal about getting all the last remnants of silicone off and make sure it's dust-free before re-siliconing.

Just wondering for fun which aspects of the hobby least interest you. Not trying to cause problems, just curious.
For me it's a bunch of big fish in a big tank, abet small in comparison to them. Also never really got into discus and plecos.
Live bearers! Lol, they're only good as feeders imo.

Hey everyone, been a while since I was on. Lots changed. Had to reduced my number of tanks as well as I lost my aquascape and had to relocate all my tanks into the basement. Bright side is I got some new lovely fish for cheap from local hobbyists leaving the scene and free from others due to unfortunate circumstances.
This post is pertaining to my most recent acquisition. Someone had a beautiful silver arowana in a tank far to small for his size. He is currently in my 75gal and needs a bigger tank asap which I'm working on but for the time being I want him to settle in and de-stress as he has been moved through 3 different tanks in less then 24 hours and the moves were not graceful or smooth.
ADVICE NEEDED
3 things.
1 - Firstly, due to the fact he was in a small tank the front of his face/muzzle is worn completely raw and in bad shape. Has anyone dealt with this? Tips on faster healing or things to be careful about? Any idea how long it might take them to regrow/heal/regen?
2 - First time keeping a fish this size and this type so any advice at all would be awesome! I can read everything on the internet possible but trust you guys more so fire away.
3 - The previous owner had him purely on feeder fish and frozen foods. I know they need a varied diet, could you give any advice on helpful ways to transition to pellet? Which foods works best for you?
Much appreciated! Pics to come, phone is dead and wife has the camera currently at a trade show.
1. Clean water and a little salt is best for healing wounds.
2. Aro's are notorious and powerful jumpers, make sure the top is not only fully covered but secured down so he can't forcefully push the top off.
3. Best way to transition to pellets (especially for larger fish) is just give him ONLY pellets. Eventually he will eat and with a fish as large as this one he's not going to miss a couple meals. People on MFK suggest that if he doesn't eat for a week, give in, give him some feeders, and try again. If he's been eating only pellets and frozen foods he's probably going to be malnourished (I'm assuming it was poor quality frozen food) so he's going to need the best food you can provide for him, preferably NLS.

Couple big SA/CA cichlids. Texas and a Jack Dempsey. Or a Green Terror. Or a Midas! Midas are fantastic wet pets, love mine.

I was still there when those JDs went - you stole those!!
I know! And they're big too!

Couple Blue Gene Jack Dempseys and a few black Angel fish.

I'm happy I don't have to travel 5 hours one way to go. Woooooooh!

I bought a new to me 20 gallon and realized I probably shouldn't put it on the resin shelving I use for my 10 gallon tanks. Any ideas for an inexpensive stand? Would a TV stand work? hrmmm...
How did I get from one tank to eight tanks again???
A TV stand would likely work, depends on the build quality. You can find some pretty cheap stands that work well at Ikea.

Ahh so the chances of getting what your after are slim unless your willing to pay out the rear? Lol not to sound prude. I only ask cause I thought there was like a buying option as well as auction.
Not at all, items tend to go much cheaper than retail.

6. Chinese Algae Eater
Never knew they came in orange and that size. But quick research states that they do. Guess that won't be going in my main tank with guppies lol
I had a hunch that the first two were Cory's. I'm happy about that.
I think (quick research based on loaches) that #7 is a Angelicus Botia loach. Thoughts?
Yeah they get quite large!

Are you adding any supliments for the plants? If so, it won't take long for that Val to grow in fully! It's always fun to take a tank where there's hardly any room for the fish to swim and cut it back to look respectable.
Will definitely be adding ferts to the tank and will be adding co2 in the next couple days, just need to go buy the tank. I JUST moved into a new house so everything is extremely hectic.
Lookin' good
I'd love to see some larger rocks and/or drift wood for a more dynamic scape. What do you think?
Will definitely be scaping it differently, we haven't even half-ways unpacked yet so I figured the tanks better take a backseat for now, lol.

pictures. Pictures. PICTURES. PICTUUUUURES!
I should have known! I'm normally the first one screaming for pics!

These Finnex fixtures are ridiculous. Couldn't be happier.

To be fair, the fish thing isn't his day job, I seen to recall he works shift work.If it is difficult to get a hold of someone to give them money for a product they are selling, spend your money somewhere else. There is always something else down the road and also who will answer questions about their product in a timely manor.
To the OP: the guys prices are so cheap you can't go wrong really, that's why I ended up going with him. Turned out to be high quality fish as well.

I just ordered 3 X 24" Finnex Ray 2 fixtures, excited.
-
Wow some great information here. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and go for the Finnex Ray 2 though... Any pics of your Finnex setups?
