  1. Quite a few deals today, whoever got that arowana and that Eheim Pro2 got some super deals.

True Dat! If I had a tank ready, I would have bid on the arowana. From what I could tell, it was a Red Tail Gold and a super steal at $45.

Yeah if I had bigger tanks I would've definitely come home with something nice, unfortunately I didn't get any fish, just a power filter that's way too strong for the tank I got it for haha, so it'll now sit under the stand until I figure out something to do with it sadly.
  2. You could just collect them and give them away. I have a tank that I have RCS in that I don't really care what they look like.

Yeah i'm sure there's people who would be interested in taking them. If you were in Calgary I'd grab some off you also.
  3. /agreed

Always work from water volume. That being said I'll say it again. Always work from WATER volume. It is often a mistake that people dose according to the tank volume. You need to take into account anything that will displace water volume like your rock, any large equipment and substrate. I have a 75gal tank but after all rock/substrate/equipment/plants it only holds 55gals of water. If I dosed according to tank volume I would be wasting ferts and overdosing by 1/3.

Without draining the tank and keeping track of how much water it takes to fill, there isn't really much of a way to find out the true volume is there?
  4. 50% off regular price or msrp? They have a funny habit of marking up before marking down.

Pisces always does this with their equipment specials. Right now they have the fluval 406 on for 50% off MSRP at $199, regular price is $240 at big als. So you are saving $40, but not the $210 they advertise. The aquaclear 30 is $35 regular at big als, so again you are saving a bit but nowhere near what it seems.
  5. I've heard, not measured personally, that dirty glass tops will block around 20% of the light. Window screen is commonly used to block the light on purpose if you have a bit too much and don't want to swap or raise the fixture.

Jewels, that was big of you ^. But you are right... misinformation spreads like the plague online. Numbers don't lie though.

Yeah, glass itself will blok almost nothing but once there's dust and condensation on it I think there would be a bigger drop. I still run glass tops on both of my tanks though.
