  1. I strongly suggest to do this.

Grab dead and dry coral pieces from wherever, much cheaper than live. A couple cups of the coral sand which is also dry. Go to the $1 and grab the 2-part epoxy. Arrange the pieces on how you want it to look and start to build the wall with the epoxy. When you glue down a piece, you must still hold it for a minute or so while it cures but before it's dry and flashed over sprinkle some of the coral sand on the epoxy. Make half a dozen large sections and then it's just like lego when you need to install into the tank...or remove. Works like a charm.

  2. If the new light unit fits inside the old fixture hood, rip out the guts from the old fixture and install the new sunblaster. I've done this many times and it always works well.

There is another clip that can also be used: http://www.bghydro.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/650x/040ec09b1e35df139433887a97daa66f/7/1/710162-01.jpg

That plastic composite type material can be cut easily so you can custom size what your after...again I've done this many times and it always works well.

If you are going to hang from ceiling don't rely on those little drywall push holders...grab the ones that have actual thread and screw that into the dry wall. That type of bracket will easily support the weight of the sunblaster fixture.

  3. Hello and welcome to AA.

I don't do much shrimp/fish however if you had any planted tank questions, I'd be happy to help you with answers.

For the link, yes basically anything in the 6000K spectrum range is fine. Very common is 6400k, 6500k and 6700k.

  4. When I first saw the picture you had posted I also saw in my mind many wet towels and someone using a wet-dry shop vac. I'm veryyyy leery of putting rock especially that size against glass. For me I'd say those are too large of a rock and too round if I were to do that scape. Get some angled rock in there to create caves and crevasses.

btw, if you ever get rock from nature make sure you do an acid test. Those appear to be fine from the picture. Also remember the bow isn't as clean as it once was.

  5. I'm looking for anyone that sells indian almond leaves. I have tried all a bunch of fish stores and either all sold out or don't know what I'm talking about...could anyone help me out please.

Huh? you want to put Indiana leaves in an aquarium? Does it make the water smell nice for the fish?! Most people here know what they do so don't worry I'm sure someone has. I had but I sold all mine off when I moved my shrimp.

  6. Not necessary. The larger light on my 75 that I re-purposed the ballasts look nothing like that...I believe parts in general are more proprietary than an easy switch between different brands. IMO typically this makes us buy those specific branded pieces.
