I also grabbed one from my gf who doesnt know a lot about fish and texted me the other day and said her fish had changed color quite a bit and was asking if there was something wrong with him. I ended up telling her mine had too :P

  4. I bought a few bettas from Ann Marie and I have noticed in some more than others quite a difference in color change and Id thought Id share it with you. http://s1254.photobucket.com/albums/hh607/mharding4/?action=view&current=BeforeandAfterShimmer.jpg The first 3 pictures of a before and after of about a 2-3 month span or so. Some are a hard comparison because the before picture was not the greatest but you can really see a difference in some! So neat

  7. I have about an 8 gallon tank and its got lots of live plants in it. They are growing well but I have this hair algea problem. I have mixed in flourite with the gravel. 13 Watt Flourescent bulb. I have one little albino pleco. There are rainbows and a female guppy and betta in the tank. Any suggestions? Fire them at me. Pictures found here: http://s1254.photobu...ng4/Hair Algea/

  9. ohhhhhh.... thats good to know.... ill have to look into that..
  10. let me know if you would like some when they get a little bit bigger!
  11. So I have pictures of my first spawn of babies. They are now about 3 cms long with little marks on their bodies. I put them in with my smaller rainbows because i now have two more spawns of babies in my 10 gallon. There are probably about 100 new babies though I know that not all will make it. I hope I can find homes for them all Its unfortunate that they take forever to be able to sex them. Pictures here on my photobucket. First 4 pictures are newest. http://s1254.photobucket.com/albums/hh607/mharding4/Otopharynx%20Lithobates/
  12. Alright. So i now have about 20 babies that are about 1.5-2 cm long and three more females with eggs in their mouths..I hope i can sell these when the time comes :P I might run out of room. hehe.
  13. Hey. Ive lost 80% of my stock in my tank in the past 48 hours. I could not see or tell why the fish were dying so fast. The water tested perfect. But I have about 7 fish left and they seem to be somewhat stable other than one. This one has what looks like mouth rot. From my readings I think its a bacterial infection? Anyone know what I can use to save the last of my fish? My betta seems immune. He has not changed and the fish continue to eat.. which i find bizzare... anyway.. any ideas? Do i have to go to Petland to buy an expensive antibiotic for a 7 gallon tank?
  14. haha thanks AJazen! Hes my favorite male that I have.. I am trying to get him jumping too.. he does it a little but nothing like her.. she will give her all to get that blood worm hahah.... ha thats a good point Cate.. i would feel pretty bad if she jumped out..

  16. http://s1254.photobucket.com/albums/hh607/mharding4/?action=view&current=002.mp4 this is a video of me feeding my female betta blood worms... shes quite interactive.
  17. my male killed himself somehow... woke up one morning and he was dead... I dont get it.. my cichlids have fry now so im dealing with them first.
  18. Turns out yesturday another female spit out her eggs which are a nice orange/brown color. I put them in a 'tumbler' like a brine shrimp hatcher...and today most of the eggs have eyes and stick bodies attached to the eggs!!.. im excited they are hatching..
  19. Jay, turns out there was 4 males. Now I have three with 4 females i think lol I might get rid of another one. I have a potential person to give him too.
  20. In that album there is also pictures of my dominant male. Hes a beaut and he still isnt fully mature!
  21. So I ended up distrupting my tank too much today and one of my females spit out her fry. Luckily she spit them out in a bucket! They no longer have eggs sacks and look like little fishies I have them in their own 10 gallon right now so hopefully they will make it. I read something about the gestational period for these fish is like 21 days? she has only had them for give or take about 8 days from what I am aware of. A couple other females have eggs too so I will have more fry coming by the looks of it! Here are some pictures! http://s1254.photobucket.com/albums/hh607/mharding4/Otopharynx%20Lithobates/
  22. ahhhhahah.. looks like I got another female with a full mouth.! im gonna have so many babies im not gonna know what to do with them!! :P
  23. I have about 10 or so Celebese rainbows... but they are quite a bit smaller... and i think they might get chased around or eaten if i put them in :S
