  1. I think it's pretty common to have peacock females holding eggs in community tanks without taking them out. As you say, chances are the fry will get eaten. It's happened a lot in my tank and the females don't seem too stressed.
  2. I've been told Mbuna fish are usually too aggressive with peacocks though I've got electric yellows with peacocks and they seem to do fine. However, I've also been told that the electric yellows are less aggressive than most Mbuna.
  3. I've decided to order some Eureka Reds from our local store. They should be in by Jan 10.
  4. Thanks, marine aquatics too much $$$ for me. Also, love the cichlid antics.
  5. Thanks, 7.8 it is. I was thinking of adding crushed coral to the tank but if I did, I'd need to take out my loaches and I'm rather attached to them.
  6. Hi, thanks for the tips! The sand and I will spend some quality time in the bath tub today. I don't have a HOB filter anymore - I wrecked mine with sand (arrgh), yes I have not done well with sand but what can I do? Onwards and upwards!
  7. Anyone know where can I get German Red Peacocks? Thanks.
  8. Does the PH have to be that high? Our tap water is about 7.8 and the fish seem to do OK.
  9. Hello, I'm setting up a 112 gallon aquarium and looked for some cheap sand. Got it at Burnco and washed it a few times before putting it in the aquarium. I had to wash it well since I had it outside and saw lots of cat paw prints in it after I bought it! Even with a filter running for about a day, the water was still muddy so I took it all out. Maybe I'll try washing it in the bathtub. It's going to be too cold to wash it outside.
