  1. My Red pikes - juvies hang out in a group of four and cruise the tank! Wolf pack but they are sure interesting as they have a leader and a definite pecking order!

Will 2 WC Zebrinus attack the smaller ones and the others? I have two 25cm and four red atabapo at 15cm? 300g tank with smaller bleeding hearts (3") and some large Megasemas and Winemilleri Geo's mixed in?

  2. I was also looking on the other web forum - canadapleco and noticed a guy that runs the Big Al's in GTA offering albino aneus and thought maybe they have a central office ordering system like most big box stores.

Who voted for the zygata? If it was you, Mr. Fishclubgirl is probably still wrong as it's the same rule in my house!

  3. So I am not a pike cichlid fan and have been left with a few fish from an order that did not transpire.

    1) I currently have 4 red pike Atabapo Type 1 Juveniles - 7-8" and starting to colour up in my pleco tank - 50.00ea - they are growing fast and are eating frozen shrimp to NLS pellets. I can send pictures if you PM me

    PM for pictures

  4. The best Plecos are the Panaque family so you will have to have wood available - get some juvenile L330, 191, 190 or L27 panaques - they are elephants for the amount of poop they produce! They should cost around 10-30.00 at best and when they get larger (which takes 4-5 yrs) you can sell them as they are still desirable fish. They are pin striped as juvies and quite attractive.

  5. I have found that the best LED's on the market for output that are similar to power compact 55 and 65watt as well as T5's are the Finnex LED - 7000k high output and the have no fans as they are heat sinker to the aluminum housing. The lumens are equivalent to the T5 and PC tubes without the heat and large fixture!

Downfall is that once the lifespan of the lights is 40,000 hrs is that there is not as many trips to the pet shop. Power savings is substantial as you only use 1/10 of the power!

So far the plants are responding well to the change over.

  6. I think you should give (L 75) hemiancistrus sabaji a try. Really cool looking pleco, and from what I've read they produce alot of fry.

    Currently breeding:

    Tropheus Moori Kasanga

    Cyprichromis microlepidotus bulu pt.

    Callochromis pleurospillus "flame rainbow"

    Albino Bn pleco

    Coming soon:)

    Super red bn pleco

    L 260 queen arabesque

    ......

If you want some adults I will trade or sell them - 2 large 4-5" ones that I am not that interested in anymore.

  7. Just for my ignorance on this topic:

So what is the predominant fish sold at the auction? Cory's, tetras, Plecos, Cichlids? How many fish to a bag is considered standard?

I am looking to donate a few fish next time so please let me know. I don't want the money just donate some large bleeding hearts (2-2.25"), cory's (Pandas, Julis, Emerald, Bondi, etc., cardinals, rummy's and Hemiodus (Red Tails) and some smaller plecos. Where does this donor revenue go?

Just some questions and I would even think of putting a really high quality fancy pleco in there. Let me know when the next one is.

  8. Polar opposites:

Red Manacupura Angels- Wild Caught - Male and Female lay eggs every 30days and the cory's eat them so I need to put them in another smaller tank!

Red Alenquer Discus - Wild Caught - female lays eggs with one of two males every 45days and the cardinals eat them! So I will have to move them to another tank soon. Anyone want to buy some cardinals!

L25's - 12-14" each and they are finally digging and building a cave the last few days.

L14's - 12+" - two males thrash every morning and push the female around.Just put the caves from Pleco cave in there so we will see what happens.
