Hey y'all, So my platy has appeared to be pregnant for a few weeks now and just two nights ago I noticed the white ring around the anus. After a bit of reading I found out that usually means their soon to go into labour. She's been panting hard for the last day or so and behaving very territorial. But she still has not popped any fry out that I've seen or got any skinnier (white still there) I'm worried because I had another female platy few months ago who got really fat and boxy looking pregnant and then white anus then next morning on the bottom of the tank dead. I really wanna try raising some fry so if there's anything I could do to make sure she pushes em out and doesn't die that would be great. I don't have a breeding box or what not but I do have some plants in the tank and a little decoration that nobody ever goes inside.. A couple hiding places for some fry

Products like excel are basically liquid CO2 correct?

I have one of each running in my 70G piranha tank.. Turns the water over allloooot. Personally I think the canister is more quiet, it is rated for less than my HOB but nevertheless the HOB in any case causes the waterfall or dribbling sound which I find to be the loud part. I have in my community tank the Eheim 2215 I believe and could not be happier. Setup is a bit more difficult than regular old HOB with cartridge inserts but I think it's worth it.

Im really limited as far as lighting goes. i would love to put some t5HO in there but i really enjoy having the canopy. now if i could find a canopy with HO ballasts that would be kickass or if somebody could even walk me through a retrofit. I do dose with nutrafin plant-gro about once every week and a half and for the most part their doing great, however almost all of my E.Tennellus has died off and the stuff thats living is pretty stagnate. I could always try CO2 but i think it would be a waste with my lighting

Stocked with just what you see in my signature. (the ship I know looks cheap and unnatural but it's only in there temporarily as a hiding space for my eel) I had to get rid of another decoration my catfish almost killed himself with? Ps does anybody know a good low/medium foreground plant. I tried E.Tenellus but it isn't exactly thriving :/ also know the tank is only about a month and a half old, still obviously needs work.

I don't believe it was columnaris it really seemed like his body was rotting while he was still alive... Kinda gross actually. And he got super skinny and his stomach went concave. I just hope my piranhas will be okay.

Wel its a sad day in my tank... woke up to a half eaten pleco. im assuming the pleco died and the piranhas seen the opportunity. They never really bothered him so im almost positive he died from whatever disease he was suffering from. im just worried now if it was something like finrot. is it possible to be transferred to my piranhas if they ate him? i did a very large water change 40% and will do another either tomorrow or saturday to be safe. any other advice helps. also thanks for the quick response!

I really worry about the spreading to other fish. is there no other measures you think i should take?

I should also mention about 3 months ago a part of his face was bitten off by his tankmates. (three red belly piranhas) he used to bully them when they were young so now that theor older i think he learned he cant bully them any more.

My Chocolate Albino Pleco is very sick. i think it may be severe finrot. Reason being why i didnt detect it before is because his fins didnt really change color. atleast not noticibly. I dont know what medicine to use for finrot but im going to go to the store tomorrow ans ask around. it might be past being able to save him but i have to try. if anybody knows what this may be orcan confirm whether or not it is just severe rot that would be great. also if you know what medicine i need and how to go about treating him that would be great! im very new to this website but it looks promising :-D
