I was in your shoes alittle while ago. We started with a 55 gallon tank and are now looking to get into a larger tank. Remember with a 10 gallon that means less fish so consider that when deciding on a size. Maybe start looking into what fish you like just in case you out grow your tank before you even start. try calling a company called Chemfax they sell 5 gallon pails with lids or they sell large drums. i think there close to $50. we use them for glycol so they should be able to withstand anything you might use them for.

Home Depot, Lowes, and Rona are your best for most sizes up to 1". If you need to get into anything larger and more selection then that, try some of the plumbing suppliers. Im a Plumber so i normally buy everything through our suppliers. Its alittle harder for the average person to do that.
