  1. Strictly shrimp. Lots of live plants (moss) for the babies to hide in and keep the water parameters s close to dead on as possible. And of course good breeding stock (thanks to Jason ) My yellow shrimp tank is a dead match to the cherry shrimp tank when it comes to water parameters and I have about 15 babies in it and 3 of 4 females are berried again.
  2. How many cherry shrimp in a 5.5 gallon. Man! I stopped counting around 200 to 300. Flipping things breed like rabbits. Starting to cull the really red ones and put in 10 gallon though. And I have only ever seen 2 dead ones since I ought my original 25 from Jason
  3. 15 + babies counted in the tank tonight. Came out of the moss to clean up food left behind by adults. Probably a lot more in the moss that I can't see. And my 3 females are berried again. Woohoo!!!
  4. 4 little yellows spotted away from the moss today. Lookin good
  5. One month since I got the yellows and I see my first batch of babies tonight. Only about 5 have shown themselves but hopefully there are more hidden in the moss. Still have 3 more berried females so could be major increase in population over the next 3 weeks.
  6. Second berried yellow female found today. Yahooooo!!!
  7. You betcha. They are doing well. 4 females and 18 males. Lost 3 early on but acceptable attrition I would say Congrats on the berried female. Wow, that's a crappy sex ratio. Did you drip acclimatize them? Nope. Unless you call 1 turkey Baster of tank water added every 10 min for an hour, drip acclimatizing?
  8. You betcha. They are doing well. 4 females and 18 males. Lost 3 early on but acceptable attrition I would say
  9. So, 2 weeks in their new home and I discovered my first berried yellow shimp in the tank yesterday. I am getting excited ))
  10. How can I overcome not being able to post pictures. All I ever get back is "too Big!!" Don't have that problem on any other site. Any help would be appreciated
  11. Thank you. Great suggestions. Should have thought of that. Daahhhhh lol
  12. I notice that some shrimp breeders use feeding dishes to make it easier to clean up excess food in their shrimp tanks. Anyone able to tell me where to get or what to use?? I gather glass would work best and very shallow of course
  13. Those are great looking shrimp. What are the striped ones? I am still at the cherry shrimp learning level with 25 yellows started a week ago in another tank so still learning breed types.
  14. Wow!!!! You have Some really nice shimp. What kind is the black one???
  15. Currently have colony of Red Cherry Shrimp. Been going for about 3 weeks now. 50 original and now close to 150 with babies born since introduction to the tank. 4 more berried females I noticed this morning. Just put 25 Yellow Shrimp in 10 gallon, by themselves. Hopefully they procreate as fast as the cherries have.
  16. So. This site is full of knowledgable people that can probably give me more first hand info than my googling for it. Question #1: Are Fire Red Shrimp just an intense colored Cherry red shrimp? Question #2: Can you cross breed the 2 and expect a more intense red in your cherry red shrimp? Question #3: are red rili shrimp related to cherry reds? If so can you cross bred with cherry reds and if so what can you expect from the outcome? Question #4: If you purchase low grade Crystal Red shrimp is it safe to house them with my yellow shrimp and is it possible that you could get higher grade offspring? Lot of questions but can you help?
  17. Anyone ever purchased from Shrimpfever.com down east. Looking for yellow shrimp.
  18. Can anyone tell me how fast baby Red Cherry Shrimp grow? I have had babies in the tank from the second day I introduced them 2 weeks ago but have so many now at different sizes I don't know how big the first batch should be by now??

    Help?

I tested with both the test strip and the liquid test kit. I always use dechlorinator and then water sits for 24 hours before I do change. I changed water 24 hours ago but this death situation has been going on for the last 72 hours. Not quite as many since water change though )

    Help?

So. I have lost approximately 12 Cherry reds over the last 72 hours. I did a 50% water change yesterday and changed out the carbon bag on my filter this morning. Here are this morning's numbers. PH 7.0 Ammonia 0 Nitrate 10 Nitrite 0 GH 180 KH 40 Temp 78F After changing out the carbon bag on the filter this morning I have noticed a definite increase in activity throughout the tank (coincidence??) I do notice at least 3 different sizes of babies in the tank this morning. You would think that they would be the first to go, but not so. They are doing great. So, can anyone help me out wit a bit of advice here? I do NOT like to lose my babies
  24. Boy, do you have that right. Lol
