  1. If you're concerned with nitrite and your fish can handle it, add a tiny bit of salt (1 tsp of salt provides enough chloride to inhibit nitrite uptake in fish hemoglobin for ~200 gallons). Not actually sure what the natural concentration of chloride is in Edmonton, might even be enough (looking for about 5ppm).
  2. Going to say six months or so, takes time to grow out those big fins.
  3. Assuming you're using Windows... If you don't want to use an online service (some of us prefer to control our own data), I often use Windows Photo Gallery (formerly Live Photo Gallery): http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/photo-gallery Then follow the directions under "resize" in this FAQ: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/photo-gallery-edit-photos-faq
  4. Just getting back into aquaria after eight years absense (couldn't bring the tank to Calgary). Someone gave me a tank over Christmas so it was a good opportunity. Just about finished doing a fishless cycle on the 23 gallon. Currently hunting for plants and suitable rocks. Thinking of a basic cory/tetra/angel tank.
