  1. I did, it won't be here until end of day Tuesday.
  2. I bought a Aquatic Life Marquis Freshwater Aquarium Light Fixture 30-Inch T5 HO with 2-Lamps and Timer off Amazon and it arrived and doesn't work. I set it up and it worked for 30 seconds and now doesn't work at all. I just picked up a ton of plants today and need a light! I'll be hitting up stores tomorrow in Calgary to try to find a replacement. Any suggestions on places that will have good stock? I need a 30". No led stuff suggestions please. The $145 price tag was really nice, but not if it doesn't work!
  3. I'm thinking of changing my substrate. I'm not in love with it. I currently have soil topped with play sand and I want to switch to straight pool sand. How would this affect my plants? My understanding is the soil becomes a living soil, will the sand only do the same? Pro's/Con's?
  4. I like the look of them too! But I read they do not do well in tanks dosed with liquid carbon supplements and I use Excel Flourish at water change.
  5. Do you know where I can purchase locally?
  6. I need to spice up my 10G tank! It is about 8 or 9 months old now? Open to suggestions for new plants (locally only please) and if you want to remind me of my plants names that be awesome too! Sorry for blurry pics, I'm not the best at picture taking, The stem plant on the right was just trimmed. I'm not much of a fan of the roots growing from the bottom of some of the plants. I just don't like the look. Any suggestions on different plants that don't do this that are still faster growing to maintain balance?
  7. Thanks flyfisher! I just may have to take a gander next month and maybe get some cardinal tetra's! I'm not in any rush at all.
  8. Thanks guys! I'd LOVE to have a school of Cardinal Tetra's! Like, seriously LOVE to.. I just can't justify 5 bucks each atm.
  9. I'm looking to change my tank a bit and need some help finding some mid tank swimmers! I currently have WCM and they are always at the top. (yes, I know they are technically cold water fish.. Spare me please) The WCM would be coming out and being replaced by said fish! So they would be sharing a 10G with 4 Kuhli's, 2 rabbit snails, RCS, and mics other snails in a medium planted NPT environment. Only looking for 1 species and would prefer a smaller size and schooling fish. I've added a picture of the tank as it is right now.. Sorry, crappy pic, it is too bright right now to get a good one! I'd prefer to be able to purchase locally, or through a group order here. Thanks!
  10. K! Makes it easier then! Should I feed a bit more to make sure they can get some 'extra's'? For the other's that are in the tank they get leftovers of flake food, frozen blood worms, freeze dried brine shrimp, and some sort of pellet food I got from ckmullin that I forget what it is called.
  11. So, I have a bunch of RCS and some others that were sold to me as RCS but they aren't red.. LOL! They are dark brown with a lighter brown strip down the middle! Well, while doing a water change tonight I noticed a bunch of babies! Do I have to do anything for them? Special food? I'm surprised they are still around as I have 4 Kuhli's in there! I'm not going to try to catch them as I have a moderately planted tank. :S
  12. Thanks everyone! Will go searching this weekend.
  13. Thanks Ted! I'm not one to have any fry. If it happens, it happens but I'm not facilitating it! I got lent a 1G all inclusive tank so I'm working on getting that set up!
  14. I'm starting a hospital tank and would like to see if I am able to get a better bulb so I can have a low light plant in there. It is a 1G all inclusive tank and the lid says Rating: AC 120V, 60HZ, 5W. Its a small screw in bulb. I've attached a picture, sorry it's blurry, don't have a good camera. Not sure if I can do this or not, but thought I'd ask. I don't have the option of spending extra money besides the bulb. If I can do this, I can, if I can't I'll accept the lack of plant and get a fake one.
  15. Thanks guys! I'll take a look around when I can afford to buy. Just dropped a few pretty pennies on the car and need to rebuild my nest egg again!
  16. I was thinking about that this morning! I've seen those tank dividers while at the LFS but never really stopped to look! Are they expensive? I should take a gander today once the kiddo wakes up from her nap! Thanks Wingin' It!
  17. Hi guys, I have 5 kuhli's in my tank and they are finally starting to fatten up! Except one.. S/he seems to be super skinny. I feed them frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp as a treat and they get what everyone else doesn't eat otherwise. Tankmates are White Clouds, rabbit snail, and cherry shrimp. I don't have parameters (no kit) but can make a trip to the pet store tomorrow. From what I've observed it's a bullying thing from the other Kuhli's (who are nice and fat). Not sure what to do? I don't have a tank for a hospital tank (nor can I afford one right now) but don't want to lose this guy. I've tried putting food right in front of it and it'll go for it, then out comes one of the other Kuhli's and I have to separate them, and it begins again.
  18. Anyone know of a LFS in Calgary that does liquid water testing? I'm fairly central so not worried about location. I can't afford a MTK yet and have never tested my parameters, just done 2ice weekly changes. Now my tank it a bit older I'd like to start testing and spacing out my changes. Last time I was at BA's it looks like they use strips..
  19. Thanks jvision! Can I find that at Home Depot too?
  20. I am picking up some egg crate ($12.50 for white vs $36.18 for silver for a sheet. I wasn't able to find black locally) to make a lid and can only find it in white or silver locally and I want to paint it black so it blends in nicer. Is there a safe paint I can use that will adhere to the plastic and stand up to the moisture? Thanks!
  21. Yea it was red.. I'll give them another water change in a couple days and hopefully that'll clear anything else out. :S Thanks guys!
