Last I looked into it, the threshold was at 35,000. That was only a year ago. Anything over that you would need a business license.

As for GST, to collect all you need is a GST number which you can get for free from CRA. But keep in mind, then you will need to collect and pay the tax and then they will monitor your actions.

Some will say that they ship to Canada, while others will say they don't. You will see the write up under where it says if it's in stock or not. If the one you clicked doesn't, try one of the other ones on the right side.

They are on Amazon.com though. I placed an order for my nano tank. So far haven't had any problems and it says delivery sometime in the middle of November.

So if you read between the lines, there will be no vendors in Canada, but that doesn't mean we can't get them if we're patient.

I'll let you know if mine does arrive or if it gets refused.

My cories love it. Cichlids dig under wood in it. Easy to clean, easy to vacuum. Doesn't bother my filters.

Yes, a planted tank. Understocked (12 guppies, 3 bn plecos and snails) 55 gallon with play sand substrate. Just currently running a beamswork LED until my Finnex planted+ gets in, a fluval 305, airstone etc. no dosing just weekly water changes. I just want better fuller growth.

so unless I have a huge budget I should just stay lo-tech?

All I can say is I experienced trial and error with everything fish related. Started with fake gravel and fake stuff. Now I have a planted tank with everything real and will never go back to fake. With that said, I don't run a Co2 setup (yet), I just liquid dose and seem to be doing fine.

I do agree with fishclubgirl though. Start small until you get the hang of things or you will lose plants and money.

Don't worry too much, so many people on here will help with advice and good prices on plants and livestock.

Don't see a heater in that list....but other than that it's not bad. I would go with either the baby tears or glosso. They both look good

I have playsand as my substrate in my 55 gallon with lots of different plants. don't have a problem with uprooting and it's a very full tank of guppies, cories, plecos, loaches, a betta, shrimp and a ton of different snails.

Based on the pic of the bowfront I would say you don't have a deep enough substrate for the roots to really dig in. I have mine about 3 inches deep.

Black Magic or another product called Green Diamond (just doing my first tank with Green Diamond). I did quite a bit of research and it was recommended highly. Black Magic may have been described under a slightly different name, Black Beauty etc. It is coal slag and I found it to be quite clean. I have been using it for almost a year and my plants are doing awesome. Originally I did a type of dirt tank covered with Black Magic. Won 1st for CAS aquarium beautiful (over 30 gallons) with the tank. It is a 110 gallon long so I had to source something that fit my budget. Since then I got lazy and just used the Black Magic in my shrimp tank and the growth the plants are having is awesome. It looks just like Tahitian moon sand for a fraction of the price!

It was funny watching some of them get caught up and some lots went higher than I thought they would. Others....holy cow cheap. I only wish I had gone with more money. main thing that blew me away was what that 80 gallon tank went for.

got the first round of yellow tailed guppies. they are enjoying the new tank and are already chasing the females around and dancing for them.
