Many severum males (except for some of those weird line-bred types) have squiggles over their faces and gill plates. A clear face is likely female. Some people say that you can tell by face shape (females have pointier faces), but they all look about the same to me. I find older males are much wider in the chest.

Can anyone confirm this to be a female Belem? Doesn't have as many bars as my Rotkeils. Please and thanks.

Hi folks,
New to the site, not to the hobby. Currently trying to breed Crenicichla compressiceps (been 2 years, can't get any pairings going. about to give up). Also have a severum pair (wild caught rotkeils) with some bristlenoses and a rotating stock of dithers.

While I'm not fimiliar with the common name of "dwarf green pike", I do have some experience with C. regani and C. compressiceps. Do you know the species of your pikes? And are they wild-caught?
