  1. Appreciate the gesture Caeruleus, I have a question for you... Would my peacocks tear this apart? I've got a strip light out in my garage for live plants that would fit my 55Gallon. I'm just running regular light right now. Some info on my tank: I'm using the wrong substrate for my cichlids, it's the cheap, coarse gravel. I've tried plants on another tank I looked after and unfortunately they never rooted and ended up floating to the top and died. Could it have been the substrate, the fact I added them early in the setup? Water was cycled and there was fish living in there just not for very long. Thanks for your help.
  2. Thanks for the great feedback guys. Unfortunately the "expert" at Big Al's recommended not feeding my pleco when I was there browsing the algae wafers, something to do with them being so lazy if you feed them they won't do their work of keeping your tank clean. I really have an aversion to snails, I feel they're more of a pest picked up from the LFS generally speaking - at least the ones I've acquired inadvertently were! I'll see if I can't find a bristlenose. Caeruleus: Tank is not planted.
  3. I've had a 29 gallon aquarium running for a little over a year now, it sits under my 55gallon and generally doesn't draw much sun. I've put a plecostomus in there twice and both times the little guy has died, now I have algae growing on the sides of my aquarium for the first time, should I buy another?
  4. Great looking tank, I really like the plants what are they?
  5. Hello everyone, I finally signed up here. I've been reading lots of articles and great advice shared on this forum. I keep a 55 gallon with peacocks and a 29 gallon community tank. I've been keeping fish for over 20 years even though I'm a young guy. My dad was a breeder for many years. Looking to get to know some local enthusiasts and breeders.
