  1. Hi Jaykit I'm not sure I want to use bleach as I don't want to kill my friendly bacteria... I'm mostly trying to just remove some hard water build up, so I'm pulling things apart and getting out the vinegar and a scraper. I didn't think I could realistically do cichlids with the size of my tank. If I did get angels, how many? I know they like to pair off, and I should watch getting 3, 5, etc as the odd guy will get bullied. I am also not really interested in having little cichlid babies showing up - wouldn't know what to do with them! Thanks
  2. Also, I am forever cleaning black algae in my tank. I know that I have no plants competing for the nutrients but does anyone have suggestions on dealing with as well?
  3. Hi all I have a 35 gallon FW tank that I have had for a number of years. I have let my fish population run down for the past few months, and on the weekend my last fish, a 4 year Bosemani rainbow died Anyways, I want to slowly restock starting fresh. I am going to give a good clean, (keeping water and substrate) and start again. Anyone have some suggestions about what to stock with? I have always kept a community tank, and just not sure were to go. Plants are all artificial as I don't have the wattage for live, but all the plastic ones will be replaced with silk. My wife is thinking angel fish... Any stocking suggestions would be appreciated!!
  4. Hey all I'm new here and I have to say this is a darn nice site! I was just wondering what people thought of keeping fresh water shrimp in a community tank... my big concern is my clown loaches. I thought about a blue lobster(crayfish) for a bit, but I don't think that will work with my clowns and weather loaches? Any thoughts? Thanks! :well:
