I fine this kind of funny , was just at Marks ( Alberta Discus ) last week picking you some tank mates for my 230G planted discus tank and he was telling me the the Cory,s would breed if thing were right , well my son was looking around the tank today and this is what he found.

Yes i am on a acreage , we have a iron filter , can not us the water for the tap , yes i do have a drop checker it is greenest yellow , i will do some reading on this . thanks

Hi , here is some pictures of my 230 gallon planted discus tank , the tank is co2 injected ( visa PH controller ) all the test show the iron /no3/are good , i don,t have a potassium test kit on the show growing plants the new leave come out a bale green , leaves are cupped , and then after a few days brown/blackish spots start to form on the leave and just gets worse , I did have a problem with a green slime algae and my test kit was saying my PO4 were high so i did everything totry and get it down , so i know my test kit was NG , so i started adding PO4 and the green slime algae went a way , then this brown/black type kick in If anyone know what this is and how to deal with it that would be great , if you need more info let me know or PM me with your phone # and we can talk , most time this is faster. My GH = 5 //// KH = 4 and i run my PH control 6.3 I use R/O water and add alkaline buffer & equilibrium PS The last six pictures are of my sons smaller tanks 36 & 72 gallon tanks , same program and they are doing great

I should of said, is it hard ( rare ) to find them from the wild , not fish tank breed

How rare are these and what do they usually cost

Hi , i have a oceanic light canopy , it takes 2 four pin U shape bulbs 55 or 65 watt each , I am in need for a new ballast , where is the best/cheapest place to get one. Thank you for any info.

Hi , just looking for some input on what light cycle to use in a planted discus tank , i have been running lights for 16 hrs on , 8 off , just for the ease of feeding the fish , i work 12 hour shifts , 16 hrs is to much for the plants and fish , would like to have 12hrs off over night , rest break for plants and fish, been reading some about 4hrs on , 4 hrs off , 4 hrs on then 12 hrs off , I am running kessil LED with there spectral controller.

I will be giving this guy and 2 pictus catfish away , one of the pictus cat is the same size as the strip guy , if anyone is interested let me know , as of now , the plan is to take them to the pet store .

Up date on the tanks , plantsand fish are doing great , was at Marks place ( AlbertaDiscus ) great guy , my planted 230G is look very nice with the addiction of the discus , the 1st picture is of my older son ( 14 ) 36G bow front , the next 2 pictures are of my youngest son (10 ) 70G half moon tank , then the rest are of my 230 G tank

I think Alberta Discus is in Calgary , I think his name is Mark , I am going to send him a e-mail and try to get a phone # so i can call and talk , would be nice to drive there and see them in person.

Hi , My fish are glad to be out of the rubber mat tub after 1 1/2 months of redoing my 230G tank , getting ready for Discus , my boys tanks 70G half moon and 36G bow front are new set ups , going to be getting Andian flasher barbs, Cardinals, Gold rams , Electric blue rams , Rumy noses from Big Als ( Edmonton ). Just trying to decide where to get my Discus from--- Alberta Discus is local i think ??? ( Edmonton or Calgary ) would be nice to drive and get smaller amounts at a time so not to overload the tank , also nice to see what you are buying in person Canadian Aqua Farms His stock looks nice , would have to buy smaller amount, so would have to pay more for shipping , can not see them in person before buying. Let me know what you think !

Is Alberta Discus in Edmonton?? Would be nice to get something local !

This was a fish that we got about 4-5 years ago for my sons tank ( 10G ) move him to my 230G ( WHAT IS THIS FISH ) , now setting the 230G tank back up for discus PLANTED TANK , should i be keeping him , also a 6 - 8 inch pictus cat and 3-4 inch clown loach

Hi , i live south/west of red deer , got my interest for aquariums from my mother , so when i moved to Alberta from N.S in 1995 one of the first thing i did was buy a tank , 230 gallon, when i live east of Edmonton i set the tank up as a discus planted tank , dealt with Henry ( Dads fish room ) and Ruddy Kern ( Aquatic plants Unlimited ). Well kind of got out of it when i moved south here ( got into sledding in the mountains ) , but the tank was always set up , my two boys now ( 10 &14 ) have always had small ( 5 - 10G ) tanks in there bedroom , they wanted somthing bigger and i am healing a work related neck injury ( no sledding for the poat two seasons ) So i need somthing to do , so i got a 36G bow front tank and a 70G half moon tank for the boys and redid my 230G , all have soil base substrate , CO2 injection , and set all three tanks up with Kessil LED lighting ( I use to have 3-400W metal halides on the 230G ). All three thanks have been up and running now for 1 1/2 months , cycled up and plants are growing like weeds, time for fish , i am going with Discus again in the 230G ( i realy like the looks of the Pigeon blood discus in the show thank at Big Als in Edmonton ) ???? Where is the best place tp get fish ( when i lived in Edmonton , i got ALL my fish from Henry , it was nice dealing just with one guy ) Also any members on here from the Red Deer area , are the any good Aquarium places left in/around Red Deer , or all in Edmonton / Calgary . Sorry for the long introduction.
