  1. Looking forward to see the actual images and perhaps a tip or two of photography tricks you picked up along the way.

My biggest tip to anyone is patience. It took many many many tries to get a good clear shot of anything.

I'm still experimenting with taking pictures of full tanks and their scapes. This will take some time as my main camera is currently being repaired, but for now I have my spare camera and my macro lens that will let me take some close ups of the livestock I have!

  2. One of my first tanks was a cherry shrimp tank.
2 months in, they were healthy and thriving!

  3. I'm still relatively new to this hobby. I only started last December and have enjoyed every minute of it.
I currently have 6 tanks set up and have been playing around with my camera to get some good shots.
I guess this will simply be a thread to showcase some of my stuff!
Hope you all enjoy them as much as I do!

  4. I wanted to document my attempt at a dry start tank!
Hope you like it, any feedback is always appreciated!

Dry starting monte carlo as a carpet.
Got a little patch of staurogyne repens, as well as a little experiment with hygrophilia, ludwigia, alternanthera reneikii, and pogostemon helfri.

I'm not too fond of the look of having that clip on lamp there, but i'm doing this tank on the budget side... Maybe i'll get another light somewhere own the line, but this should work for now!

Everything is growing very well! Glad it's turning out well so far.

  5. I got an eheim 2213 from a friend and he said he upgraded a while ago. Only problem was that the shaft was broken.
My understanding is that they use ceramic due to the low friction, etc etc. But it just seems extremely fragile and i know i'd probably break it again if i replaced it.

Has anyone ever tried replacing the shaft with a stainless steel one or another metal?

  6. not even close.

i wired up the entire 5m length, side by side with no space and did nothing against t5

it can be done of course but need to spend more cash on high power chips than a basic strip.

suggest to grab individual chips and wire them together seems like you'll get more power out of that than these types of strips.

Well, glad i didn't try the strip LEDs too. I was looking at videos about it...

I've also been looking at getting individual chips. This might be what i'm going with if i can't find anything good.

LED floodlights on ebay work decently. They don't LOOK nice though but they'll grow relatively undemanding plants fine. 10W would be fine on a nano probably.

For the LED floodlights, do you have one which you have used and would recommend?

Nah. I've bought a few off ebay and they're okay. Nothing great. I wouldn't really recommend them because they won't make your tank look nice but the light itself is relatively powerful for the price. I've had about a 40% failure rate in the first year, but they're pretty cheap so expectations have to be low haha. The ones I have look like this:Flood-Light-10w.jpg

Interesting. I'll take a look around.

    Thanks!
