OK, my real name's Bill, and I live in Red Deer. I just started in to aquariums about a year ago, and kind of by accident. I got hooked. I discovered fish are more fun, interesting and even intelligent than I had ever thought.
My wife owns a petsitting business here, and a while ago she had to take care of some fish. It disgusted me when I saw it, 3 big goldfish in a 1 gallon torture chamber. I went out and bought something a bit more suiting for them so they could at least get healthy while we were watching them, then berate the owners.
Things kinda erupted, I had to have my own fish, and tanks, and more fish - you know.
So here's my line up now: (more or less)
5g slightly brackish water: 1 Green Spotted Puffer
29g : 2 baby parrot cichlids, 1 albino bristlenose pleco, 4 diamond tetras, 4 head & tail lite tetra
44g tall : 2 tangerine dream discus, 2 cobalt blue discus, 3 clown loaches, 2 dojo loaches, 3 silver dollars, 1 common pleco, 3 columbian blue & red tetras
50g : 1 red oscar, 1 tiger oscar, 1 rubberlip pleco
55g : 1 tiger oscar, 1 albino tiger oscar, 6 giant danios, 1 sailfin pleco, 5 clown loaches
120g : 1 fullgrown parrot cichlid & 3 young ones, 1 green terror, 2 jack dempseys, 1 common pleco, 1 needlefish, 1 turqouise severum & 2 angels
And I know it's not over yet, most of the cichlids and plecos are still relatively small, so there will be more tanks on the way as they get older. But I don't know where I'll find the time.
Oh, and pretty well everyone has names, and ya, I talk to them all - but hey, they like it. I'm amazed at how much the cichlids in particular love attention and even being petted.
Besides my fish we also have 11 parrots, 3 dogs, 4 cats, 2 degus and a friendly little one eared bunny who lives on the loose in our dining room and living room and does her business in the tray of one of the bird cages. Most of our animals were rescues of one sort or another.
Looking forward to chatting and learning from you all.
