  1. I have an FX5 on my 90 with way too many fish. I have had it for a couple of years now and only opened it once (to squeeze one of the rings to `jump start`another tank). It has never caused me any problem and when I set up my 130`s I will get a couple more (smiles as he`s lookin`for a smokin`deal)

  2. Great job Deborah, it looks fantastic. From the pics the deck planks look open to the water and the only concern I would have would be the wood preservative in the planks leaching into the water. I know you can't burn that stuff as it is very toxic. I'm sure you thought of this and I'm only bringing this up as a precaution.

I'll have to stop in some day to see it.

  3. I may be asking for trouble but for the 2 years I've been in Alberta now I have only rinsed out 1 of the sponges in my FX5 to jump start the cycle for nother tank. When I change the water I leave the filter on until the water line drops below the filter so I can see how much outflow there is. I have no issues with any fish but am thinking of a good cleaning real soon ;)

  4. Hey MM! I'd check out the Nature Pets. The store in Pt Claire looks small from the outside, but it's huge inside! Plus it's only a >5min drive away from Big Al's.

I'll check it out Craig, I was just at Big Al's on Saturday...a little disappointed though. Maybe I'm just used to the size and selection of all the other ones. I'm supposed to be in Gagetown flying for 5-6 weeks on course come mid July. I'll look you up, it would be great to see some of your fish.

  5. When I moved from N.S. to Edmonton I had a friend "babysit" for a few weeks until I got to Edmonton, got set up then he shipped the fish out. I had no losses and things couldn't have worked out better. Keep in mind that I had 3 large tanks of fish and sold the ones that I found more readily available (Tangs and Malawians) but shipped the large Clown Loaches and some of the larger South/Central Americans.

    Good luck with the move.

  6. I am currently keeping smaller Fronts with White Calvus, Goldhead Compressiceps and some Multis. All are Juvis and will soon be going into a much larger tank. As for now, everyone gets along quite well and until something goes wrong they will stay with each other. Some may disagree but one thing I have to say on that is "what works for me may not work for you and just because it works for you doesn't necessarily mean it will work for me". No disrespect intended, this is just the way it is.
