  1. how do you mean pick out the larger snail? did you keep it or kill it? sorry, I'm assuming you killed it but just for clarifications sake I'd like to make sure.
  2. what gets me is that i've had the plants for close to three weeks and i just noticed it today. That's about my powers of observation.
  3. so I was looking at my hospital tank which right now only houses some java fern from Riverfront and sure enough i saw something on a leaf and began wondering what else was wrong with my tanks (I've had a rough go recently....Oh well its picking up). So upon a closer look I noticed a snail crawling around on a leaf. What surprises me is i haven't noticed it before and it's shell is about half the size of one of my fingernails. I don't own any snails this is my first. Is it normal to have snail eggs on plants when you buy them? Will it harm java fern? Its sorta weird as I wasn't sure if i wanted any snails but its shell looks really neat. :eh:
  4. I would get some but i can't afford to set up a salt right now. Man that would be great though. you guys rock!!!!
  5. all you have to do is buy the big tank and then mix whites with a crap load of reds. Problem solved she will never ask you to do laundry again. lol
  6. Thanks guys. Sorry for just dumping, I'm not ready to give up on the breed yet but am going to wait to see what happens with my final ram before i do anything else. Once again i feel like i just dumped on the site and sorry for doing so. Chad
  7. sweet tank  what kind of crab is that?
  8. Red Coral Aquariums deals with salt Red Coral Aquarium #118- 3604 52nd Ave NW Calgary, AB T2L 1V9 Phone: (403) 338-1880
  9. :boom: another one died. Okay a third ram has died the final out of the batch that i bought. What causes a ram or fish for that matter to go from looking healthy to dead in two days? Please, i've been testing my water and no harmful levels of anything was found. I did find that the water was a little hard so i started to mix r/o water in with the water changes to soften it up. Any ideas please, I'm sick of losing fish.
  10. -roll- that's awesome. I agree with that. Thankfully most of the people that come over do not tap but for the odd one or two that do, I'm going to keep that in mind. Thanks ich. I'm scared of my one year old nephew when he begins to walk. Guess I'll have to move the tank higher. Crap. Chad
  11. Yeah it's pretty cheap there too
  12. nice shots,    I want
  13. I went down there today to check it out but its not open yet and no date set at the store so I don't know. Looks good inside though. It's on the East side of Macleod Tr. South
  14. and just tie it in place? sweet!!! I stuffed one piece in a hole in the wood, the other piece is a little larger. I'm going to try fish line.
  15. I finally got some java fern for my tank and felt like a complete newbie at Riverfront today when i got it but that's another story. I got it home, put it in the tank and it looks great but is there something i need to do to get it attached to the drift wood or will it naturally attach? I couldn't really find out anything on my research, could you help me out? Thanks Chad
  16. I saw some there but honestly, i found similar ones in Home depot for cheaper prices.
  17. Agreed, but if you still want to know, the Rena heated auto-feeders are the best...just not cheap (about $100). Holy crap, eventually, i'm sure i'm going to need one but I think i'll not get one right now. Where can you get one of those?
  18. I need to go away for the thanksgiving weekend which means leaving behind my fish tank  . I'm just wondering if automatic feeders are worth the money or if those dissolving feeding blocks will do the trick? and which brands of automatic feeders are the best? Also, where can i get an automatic timer for my lights so that they will turn on and off for me while i'm gone? Thanks Chad

    rams

I'm thinking the two i have left are a male and female judging by colouration. And yes the female seems to be picked on and quite aggressively too. I've seen them together where the female tries to be the aggressor and the male makes her back down and then looks like he's taking a chunk out of her side except she exibits (wrong spelling i know) no sign of fin nipping. Is this okay or should i try and exchange the male or just get rid of him and try again? as for water temperature, its up about 80-82f and i'm going to try to add r/o water to the tank to soften it. What do you mean do water changes with aged water. They are in a 20g unplanted picture is in the picture forum.
  20. Yeah they were from the same tank but i've been doing tests recently and nothing is out of the ordinary other than hard calgary water. so i don't know what's up the barbs and pleco are fine and at least one of the other rams are good. One has lost some of its colouring so i'm keeping an eye on him but he's still swimming around at a good clip.
  21. it died  the problem with the fins was there a few days but the swimming problem started yesterday. He died this morning. I had him in the 5g but it wasn't soon enough.
  22. I'm getting ready to give up, if the fish makes the night i will be surprised. :cuss:  i moved him to my 5g with an airstone in it and its not looking good. That's two in as many days.
