  1. So I took the lamp apart and the ballast is in a case that looks like a complete set-up. No single cylinders. I'm thinking I need to replace the entire case. Anyone have an idea where I would replace a Coralife Ballast.

  2. The connections are clean and the bulbs are new. Only used about a month before the blinking started. I don't know much about the lights so can you help me out and let me know what the ballast is and how to replace this?

  3. I'm not lowering with the intention of breeding. I am just concerned with proper water conditions. All other aspects of the water quality are good. I've just been concerned with the ph level. I think I will let this be as the fish are doing well. Thanks for your advice.

  4. I'm struggling to lower the PH in my 90 Gallon. I'm at 7.8 right now which is high because I have discuss in this tank. They seem to be doing well but I know it's better to be lower than this. I'm trying (unsuccessfully) the Neutral PH powder. I'm wondering about peat--where to get it etc. or any other advise from others who do the same thing. I'm on well water and want to do this slowly. Hope someone has some advise!

  5. I would keep it to 1 tbsp just because the loaches can be sensitive. Increasing heat with melafix and pimafix will help also. I know the melafix shouldn't cause problems but I'm not sure about the pimafix, I'm sure it's very safe but don't think it's as natural as product and melafix. Good luck!

  6. I've spent many years in the insurance industry as a home insurance broker and have never known of an exclusion for aquariums in a home. Nor have I ever seen a rider or endorsment to a policy for aquariums in a home. Most policies include water damage. This would include, sewer back-up, burst pipes, water escape from a hot water tank or any other appliance in a house as well as water damage due to aquariums, water beds, etc. Water damages always excluded are things like ground water, flooding, and so on. It's important to make sure your policy covers water damage or water escape. Most do but some require you to pay a small additional premium of $10 to $25 for the coverage. It's something you should have even if you don't have an aquarium in the house because of the other risks that it covers.
