  1. Smaller Tube????, I have used the Python hose for about 9 years, until recent I have changed to a larger ID hose. I have cut my draining of my tank by about 30 % faster. Before it would take me about 20-25 mins to drain 140 gallons now it's about 15 mins. The hose that I am using is 3/4" ID at 50'. I feel there is better suction with the larger tube.
  2. You may own your condo, but you should still check your condo regulation. Some regulations don't allow fish tanks over a certain size.
  3. I've had the itch for years, just was scared to try it. Best advice I was given: DO NOT CHEAP OUT. TAKE YOUR TIME. DON'T RUSH STOCKING. All the investigating I did was not nearly enough compared to what I have learned. And believe me, I spent ALOT of time checking things out and planning. The tank (150g) setup as it sits today, has cost me nearly $12,000 dollars in equipment, and livestock. My smaller 34g has only cost me about $3500 so far, but nothing in it. WOW, I had the itch, but as of today not any more $12K. Your setup looks awesome!!
  4. Are you actually handling your fish to measure every time?
  5. If you are going to all that trouble, why not make it 1/2" shorter than the width of the door. Then buy a custom tank. How about a sump?
  6. Hey congrats!!!! Keep us updated on your aro.
  7. Yah, I am kicking myself now, because I also place about 5 tanks by the dumpster about 8 years ago. Hey I didn't know this site was around back then> LOL. Boy I wish my wife would let me keep my stuff when we moved.
  8. Thanks for the reply, Just wondering, because when I do a WC, the sump is turned off for about an hour. Just wanted to see how others avoid bacteria die off.
  9. Performing water changes how long can a sump/filter sit dormant before bacteria starts to die? Thanks
  10. Home Depot should have Yes, Home Depot has it, but NOT cheap. Thin walls that kink easily.
  11. Hi Nick, good job there!! Looks like you'll have that up and running in no time. Not sure, but is it possible to have too much current from your sump or are you going to have a check valve to dial down the return flow? I guess that would also depend on what you plan on keeping. Good luck.
  12. yes, nice shots. I also like the second photo
