I'm in the middle of treating ich and i'm having issues keeping my tank at 28 degrees celsius. I have 3 methods of measuring temperature. 1) liquid crystal strip - says 25 degrees 2) floating alcohol based thermometer - says 25 degrees 3) the thermometer built into my heater - says 29 degrees So i'm guessing my current heater which is a Marineland 150 watt (recommended up to 40 gallons) is out to lunch but i just bought and replaced my Fluval heater which was registering a temperature of 27 but my other two thermometers consistently display 3-4 degrees lower... Causes?... a) not enough water circulation around heater b.) heaters are garbage c) other two methods of temperature measurement are inaccurate If anyone has good experience with a particular heater or an opinion / advice i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Information on the packaging is ambiguous: Manufacturer's web site confirms that the heater is "completely submersible": Are Elite submersable heaters fully submersible - why is there is a waterline I was just inquiring about the Elite submersible heaters. I was told by the sales representative that the whole unit can be fully submerged, and I've read on other web sites that it can be. What's confusing me is that it has a maximum water level line. I' To be C.S.A. approved in Canada we have to specify a waterline, but the unit is completely submersible. To ensure even heat distribution place heater vertically. The heater should not touch anything when it is in the water, as this may cause uneven heat dispersion and cause the tube to become weakened. http://faq.hagencrm....bfaqid=21763 Elite Submersible Aquarium Heater I have purchased an Elite "submersible" Aquarium heater. It shows a MAXIMUM water line at the top of the unit which would lead me to believe the unit cannot have water above this marking. Can you please let me know if this is actually completely submers All Elite Submersible Heaters are built to be impervious to water. Hey folks. I just picked up a fluval ebi last week and I'm trying to find out a cost-effective heater that would work for it. I'm hoping to have the tank heated at 76-78F and would greatly appreciate suggestions. I'll need a heater that is fully submersible and small. Please advise? Thanks!
