There also appears to be a very thin film on top of the water. Why the film? Do bubble nests usually just disappear if the fish isn't actively working on the nest? The film would be the spit that was left over after the bubbles popped. They use a special chemical in their spit to make the bubbles stronger. He will probably go back to it. I had a betta that liked to build is nest right in the strong current from the filter. It was often gone within hours, then he would just go back and build it in the same place.
