Kevin
Just letting the plants grow out for now before attempting any aquascaping. Also attached is my first attempt at Rooted Riccia and a picture of the 3 inch ruler of the tank. Tank is a 55 gallon with ~150 watts of light, DIY CO2, and flourite/gravel substrate that has been heavily fertilized.

Kevin
How did you tie down that Riccia ? Looks great It was my first try, but I found it very easy. I took a single layer of the bulk filter floss (finishing foam) and spread it until it resembled a net. I then wrapped it around the ornament with the riccia underneath it. The Riccia grew through it and the floss disappeared from sight. It took all of my Riccia to do 2 small ornaments, but soon enough I will have enough to do some larger rocks. With my set up the Riccia grows like wild fire, but I have noticed it is heavily affected by CO2 levels. Kevin
corrosionjerry
How did the CO2 affect your Riccia ? Were you using CO2 or liquid Excell CO2 I know that when I tried using Liquid Excell on my Riccia it melted it............. Thanks for the tie down advice... Kevin
I use DIY CO2. I do supplement from time to time with excel though (when I change mixes). I have seen no negative effects. When the CO2 is low, the Ricca goes dormant. When it is high, well you have seen little shop of horrors!! I just saw that I must have my nutrient mix right today as the riccia is pearling all over. It is one thing to see crypts and swords pearl, but riccia is very cool. I think that I will grow out some riccia covered rocks for the march auction. Kevin Edited January 2, 2008 by Kevin
