sharuq1
I have one of those "exo-terra" backgrounds one is supposed to use in a reptile tank. Can it safely be used in my (for fish) aquarium or do I need to seal it with something first? Also, what can I use to safely paint the edges so I don't see the white foam when I cut it to fit the tank?
thegrandpoohbah
It is safe for use in fish tanks, I have been using mine for months now. It is made of black foam so you can cut it to fit and not have to worry about it looking ugly.
Vallisneria
I have a Hagen MARINA background in my 20g. Its pretty much the same as the exo terra one but grey instead of beige. The marina one was made out of black/grey styrofoam, so it looks fine from the side. If the exo terra background is made of white, there are paints that are water safe but they cost a LOT and it wouldn't be worth it to paint such a small area.
