interlude
When I bought 2 crayfish from River.. they were the normal dark reddish color. Only 1 is left in a 5gallon with some feeder fish. 5 or 6 molts later.. hes turning blue! is this normal? Do I have an electric blue? It all started out when my fahaka ate his pinchers and then lost interest. So I took him out and threw him into the 5 gallon feeder. When his pinchers slowly grew back, it was blue.. now after the last molt, his whole body is a light blue color.
FrogFan23
The "electric blue" is a stable blue variant of Procambarus alleni. There are lots of theories as to why a cray will turn blue, including diet and lighting conditions. If you haven't already, check out www.bluecrayfish.com. nicole
I've got a theory... I've been breeding them for a few years now. I bet he was a red/blue hybrid of some sort. Most of the time when they're hybrids they're colour changers and will change colours with a molt. Anyways... i dunno... have fun with that one!
