? L 117 Pleco

I purchased these 2 plecos from Walmart last fall, along with a common pleco. All three were about the same size, under 1.5 inches. These were more reclusive than the common and grew slower. Now the common is about 6" to these guys ~4". The color of these change dramatically with their surroundings. On sand, they can go to a light tan with black splotches. These pictures show them in their most common color.

I realize that there are vast numbers of pleco species and differentiation is tricky. Would I be right in at least assuming Hypostomas species? Any suggestion on the L number?

Kind of looks like a ranger pleco to me.

There is certainly a lot of similarities with the Pterygoplichthys punctatus . The information at that site indicates counting dorsal rays. I was only able to count 8 on mine. Here is another view showing color change but not as dramatic as sometimes. Sorry, the focus is on the wrong place.
