Fish_Frenzy
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone else out there was breeding S.lineolata (Hillstream Loaches). I bought 4 a few months ago and now have 25 or so give or take a few. Apparently, they like Calgary water cause they are breeding like crazy. Currently have 5 different size juvies. I love watching them glide around the tank like tiny little rays, hey, it's a good substitute for those of us that can't afford a ray lol! Very pretty fish! gobies et al
Hi Tammy, I really wish I could get some from you but no tank space. They sound like a beautiful species, lovely markings and neat behavior. A wonderful small fish for someone wanting something different! I am envious! Martin Thoene
Hi All, greetings from Toronto, I've been trying to reply to this thread for a few days since someone in Western Canada who's a member here E-mailed me a link to this thread. Had a few registration hiccups, but I made it finally. You'll find oodles of information and links to other stuff about Sewellia lineolata here: http://www.loaches.com/articles/breeding-sewellia Here's a "sitting in the current" pic of one of my males....... James (Western Canada)
Hey Martin! Glad to see you made it over!! (I put in a good word with one of the moderators for you ) For any who don't recognize the name, go have a look around the Loaches Online site...... http://www.loaches.com/ .......and you will notice Martin's many contributions to the site:) Sue: before you jump in with both feet, you might want to stop by the LOL site and read up on the rather specialized conditions required to SUCCESSFULLY keep Hillstream type fish. http://www.loaches.com/articles/hillstream...n-the-fast-lane http://www.loaches.com/articles/a-river-runs-through-it http://www.loaches.com/articles/sewellia-l...o-our-aquariums There's more, but that's a good start!! HTH James Very nice! I'd love to buy some . How much?
Martin Thoene
Quattara posted: Very nice! I'd love to buy some . How much? Here in Toronto they've now come down to around the $8 to $9 range. First imports a few years ago were more. As James says, please, please, please check out the specialized tank setups required for these types of fish. Martin.
