loki
so after getting a job with a glass company and a black piranha, i have decided that this winter im going to build a custom tank. im thinking a 6'x2'x2'. which is 179 gallons. according to a weight calculator i found online......the glass would have to be 10mm and weight 280 pounds and the tank full would way 1780+ pounds with rock and gravel. anyone think this is wrong? just seems alot of weight......... African_Fever
Nope, sounds right. If you've ever lifted a 180 or larger they weight a ton empty. Most people take 10 pounds per gallon as a rough estimate for a setup once you take glass weight, rocks, stand etc. into account.
Hemi
Well put AF if anything Loki your weight might even be a little more than that
Boom
10 mm glass would be very minimum. That's 3/8". My 180 is built of 5/8" glass, or 15mm. Your weight sounds about right. I'm sure with rocks and sand, I'm easily over 2000 lbs for my 180. Boom :boom:
