gdcox76
I understand that the addition of CO2 will decrease PH. And if I understand my research correctly a drop checker should indicate when enough CO2 has been added. Out of curiosity what does that typically bring the PH of Calgary's water down to? werner
A concentration of about 30ppm CO2 should drop your pH by 1, no matter what the starting point is. Just make sure that your original pH reading is taken in tank water that has first been allowed to sit and off-gas any CO2 that might be present from the fish, etc. Also, when using a drop checker, it's most accurate if you use a solution with a KH of 4 degrees. I can't remember the exact measurements for it offhand, but you can mix it with distilled/RO water and baking soda.
byte
The best results from a drop checker will be with 4dKh solution. You can buy it here... http://www.greenleafaquariums.com/co2-drop-checkers.html or make it yourself, but you need centigrade scale and very accurate flask. http://www.theplantedtank.co.uk/co2.htm
